I’ll be posting monthly check-ins on my 2023 Goals. This is check-in #3!
Take care of my health
March was a tough month with my diet. I started the month with eating out for every meal in Los Angeles (and really enjoying it!!!!), then when I got back I wanted to get back on track but I struggled with stress-related snacking. I started to rein that in then had a week where I ate dinner out every night. It was just one of those months! The only reason I have much of a loss is because I was sick on Tuesday.
But I had some non-scale victories! I’m able to fit in to some off my size 14 bottoms now and my tops are looser! A sweater that never fit when I got it from Stich Fix fits now. And I can wear a unisex L shirt instead of XL. I’m excited about that progress!
I lost 4.6% of my body weight this month, and 12.1% for the year so far.
My workouts went well this month! I started running again, and did quite a few of my runs with Steven! I’m really enjoying getting back in to it together and am excited about the 5K in June. I either walked or ran every day except the day I was sick. It looks like I only did 3 strength workout this month. Whatever! Better than 0!
Spend less
I spent $72.54 on shipping – I sent two packages to Canada, sent our state and federal taxes in via priority mail (since they would not accept our e-files, eyeroll), and mailed four packages to stateside friends/family.
I paid off my student loans this month!
I had Starbucks three times – once at the airport with Steven before we flew to California on March 6, while in California on March 11 because I desperately needed caffeine, and with Bobbi before POP Cats last weekend. I used gift cards for all of those (but did send two $10 Starbucks gift cards in March).
Continue to purge things I don’t use from the house
I took 4 bags to Goodwill on the 18th! And I took a bunch of old batteries to work to be properly recycled.
Visit a new state with Steven
We went to Los Angeles in March! It was not a new-to-us state, but it was a new-to-us city and we explored so much and had a great time! I still hope we can see a new state this year – maybe Montana or New Hampshire or North Carolina? Or all three? Ha. I am running out of leave at work (when I hit 15 years at my job in December my leave increases, yay!).

Hide a rock a day for the year
Still on track!
Do you ever find out what happens to your rocks? I’m just so curious about this. I saw a painted rock near our fire station recently and I just took a photo of it and left it. Do you ever return to drop off locations to see if they have been moved?
On the back of each rock is a tag that says to contact me if they found it and keep or rehide it. I hear back sometimes but not often (and that is totally fine with me. It really bothers some people but not me)! And yes, I often return, because I hide so many on my workout routes. I hid one a month ago that’s still there.
That’s fun you found one! What was it?
It was an Easter-themed picture. I might post about it on Easter, actually! I just left it there because I’m hoping a child found it and got excited about it!
Oh fun! Yes, I’d love to see it! I hope they did too. I am always hoping kids find me.
You’re doing so well! 4 bags to Goodwill AND recycling old batteries? That’s some high-five adulting right there!
Thank you so much! I had to carry those heavy arse batteries downtown to the recycling at my office! Annoying, but worth it!
I am SO ENVIOUS of the purging. I am desperate – seriously desperate – to purge. I keep seeing things I just want to get rid of – and don’t have a spare minute right now to actually go through with it.
This weekend I might just take a couple of hours to put things in bags and get them ready to go. (I usually get like this in spring, LOL… you’ve just gotten me started a bit early!)
And go you on the positive body-related stuff! I’m impressed – you persisted despite major challenges this month. 🙂
I hope you have time to this weekend! It feels so good to get rid of things you aren’t using. We (me and my husband) just have so much junk. Ugh.
Thank you so much!
