• I rarely feel FOMO about things but I have food FOMO from our LA trip. Now that we’re back and I’m catching up on the Fake Meats Instagram feed I’m seeing all these LA vegan places I wish we would have tried. It’s impossible! There’s just not enough time! We’ll have to go back.
  • I’m so grateful Steven is cool with meeting new online friends of mine, like we did twice on our LA trip. To other people it might seem weird – “let’s hang out with my online friend” – but it’s not for us!
  • I had a lightbulb moment when I was thinking about how I ate on the LA trip – I did really well (enjoying food and not overeating) on days I felt rested, but on the last day, when I only had a few hours of sleep? And the next day when I traveled home? I was eating and snacking (and getting a chai) just to try to stay awake. So… I eat more when I’m tired. Which like, duh, that is probably why all those studies say people who sleep too little are heavier. But it was an “a ha” moment for me, and a reminder to get enough sleep.
  • I haven’t mentioned parking or traffic* in LA in many of my recaps. We drove A LOT. We put around 800 miles on our rental car. We picked out a big car – a Ford Expedition – and while we didn’t have many problems parking it due to its size, we spent a lot of time, so many times, looking for parking. It was getting so old by the end of the trip. (*Luckily, we weren’t stuck in traffic too much!)

  • I’m not on social media much when I travel (because I’m enjoying vacation!) and I always notice I don’t get many new Instagram followers during that time. Like it goes stagnant when I travel. I wonder if it’s a coincidence, punishment from Instagram for not being on as much (ha), or has to do with me posting stuff I hope doesn’t get many comments because I am traveling (probably that). (Ha, since I’ve been home and drafted this statement, I’ve also seen no new growth, so it’s probably just me and the general decline of social media.)
