- I’m going to Sip & Purr Cat Cafe tomorrow to donate all these rocks for them to sell! It’s 141 rocks from 16 rock painters and me. If they all sell it will be almost a $1500 donation. And people are still asking me about sending rocks to donate so I may have more in the future! I have to thank my friend Val for getting this going – she asked if she could add to my June donation and when I posted about it, other people started asking… and here we are! It was never my intent to ask people to add to my donation, but whoa, power in numbers!
- Speaking of posting on Instagram, I’ve been trying to get away from caring so much about how many followers I have. It’s just a popularity thing! It’s not like I want more followers to get more commissions (I don’t want commissions). Anyway, something has finally worked – there is one account that asks me a ton of questions in comments then DMs them if I don’t answer right away. And I want to share what I know, but they exhaust me. And one account that I am friends with blew up with followers and said all they get all day is questions about what paint pens they use and… that just sounds annoying. I’d like to keep it small and actually have friendships and know who I am talking to and not just get a bunch of questions from strangers. So, thank you, persistent question-asker, for helping me come to this realization.
- I was so excited to leave the house for my manicure last night! I’d been home for 8 days! My brother-in-law got me manicure stickers for my birthday and we used them. It turned out so cute! And I had a great time catching up with Lorena.
- I thought my left foot was getting better last week, but it’s starting to swell again. UGH.
- I don’t think I ever posted the summer Pusheen box! It was super cute and I’ll use (or have already used) everything in it!
- Now that the cats are all comfortable being together (yay!) I get to hear Apollo crying for an hour each morning when I start work. I forgot how… lovely that was. Ugh.

Look at all those rocks to donate! The ones with the cat eyes are so striking!! But all of them look amazing and I want to go to Sip & Purr to buy some myself!!
I imagine it’s so hard to not look at your follower account and worry about engagement and all of that, but yes, there is a definite downside to popularity online. Sometimes I get down about how little engagement I get on my post, and I think I’m still trying to decide what I want from my Instagram account: is it just a place to talk about my life, or should I be striving for something more? Lots of things to think about!

I’m sorry it sometimes makes you feel that way! I think deciding what you want will really help! For me, it’s engagement and entertainment, and I actually have a lot of it! (Which I don’t see much of on accounts with a lot of followers – just lots of likes). But everyone may (and should!) want something different and shape it to be that as much as they can! If you decide you want more engagement, let me know if you need ideas – it’s all about the CTA 😉
