All I wanted from our garden was green beans, and we’ve harvested them Sunday, Monday, and last night! I’m very happy!
The Valley Green and Tendergreens are what have come in so far. Both are good but we prefer the Valley Greens.
It’s been fun to search for them and find them buried in the leaves!
(It’s NOT been fun to see beetles destroying our green bean leaves, grr, something to figure out how to prevent for next year)
Green beans, beets, carrots, and peppers on the left, cucumbers, basil, tomatoes, and cilantro on the right.
Our cilantro has bolted and is done. We should have picked it more often but now we know that for next year. I got another harvest of basil and made pesto again.
And… we’re waiting for everything else to grow. We have two tomatoes that have started to turn orange,
a baby pepper (from the plant we bought),
and some baby cucumbers.
We’re going to have so many freaking cucumbers – all of these yellow flowers will turn into them!
We had a bumper crop of cucumbers one year. We used them to make pickles!
That is def gonna happen to us! We picked our first one last night and it was delish!
Oh, I can’t wait until some of the tomatoes start hitting the Farmers Market. There is nothing better than a fresh tomato!!
Right?! I picked one off the vine last night and it wasn’t quite ready but still so good. Ha.
Green beans for daaaays!!!! It’s so much fun when you get to start harvesting. I’m jealous of your bell peppers! The difference between a homegrown pepper and store bought is the same as homegrown vs store tomato. Unfortunately I always had trouble getting peppers to grow.
I skipped the garden this year b/c I didn’t want to take on another project and it was the right decision BUT your posts are giving me motivation for next year!
It is so fun! I love looking for the green beans.
I am so so excited to try the peppers for that very reason! We are picking one today to take on our next trip to Iowa to share with my family.
I hope if you grow next year you can get some peppers to grow!
Your garden looks great! Our green beans are doing well, too! So much fun to eat homegrown produce…
Thank you! It is! There is a lot of pride in it!
Look at that baby pepper! It’s so cute!!
You’re getting lots of great results this year. That’s awesome!
Right? Insert big eye emoji LOL.
So excited about the green beans.
I wish I could share some with you!
I am envious! I can’t even grow herbs, and here you are growing entire salads! The tomatoes are insanely tall – hope that you get some soon. There is nothing like a fresh tomato straight from the garden. Yum.
Aww thank you! I can only do this because my husband is actually doing it all, ha. And yes, the tomatoes are so so good! Wish I could share some with you!
