My INR was in range on Monday – 2.6. As a reminder, it’s supposed to be between 2.5-3.0. And this was my first time going over three weeks between check-ins so it seems like the Warfarin* dosage level is working for me. Yay! I love the pharmacists at the anti-coagulation clinic, but at the same time, I’d love to go there less.

I have an appointment with the vascular doctor next week on Friday**. When I brought this up to the pharmacist on Monday she asked if I was hoping he’d tell me I’d get to go off Warfarin and I rolled my eyes so hard. She laughed. Ha. My doctor is super conservative, so I am guessing even if my clots are gone and the blood work looks good, he’ll keep me on Warfarin***.

I told her what I was really hoping is that he’d say I can quit wearing these stupid compression socks.

Then she said it.

“It’s recommended you wear those for two years.”

UM WHAT.

Apparently, to help with discoloration from the clots? Two years. Ahhh. I started wearing these in September of 2022. I just. No. I cannot. I will wear them at home but I am not going to look like this when I got out this summer:

No no no.

*If you’re new here, I take Warfarin for blood clots
**I see the pharmacists often, and the doctor every few months. The last time was December. The first time was September. To prep for next Friday’s appointment, I will have blood work and ultrasounds of my legs done.
***She said if it’s your second time with clots he’d definitely keep me on it after. I’d like to say maybe not since it’s my first time but they still don’t know WHY I got them so keeping me on it makes sense.
