A few highlights from the long weekend! This is part 4 of 4 parts.
Sunday
- Getting more sleep! But also, waking up early enough to have time to write blog posts and do things on my phone. It felt really nice to write the recaps on a daily basis!
- Being up when Tiff left to say goodbye.
- Checking on the rocks we left the neighbor. I forgot to mention, but I noticed a neighbor of the Airbnb had some painted rocks on the back of their mailbox, so we all added one! I hope they enjoy them!
- Checking out Tucson Mountain Park. I was like, we’re up, why don’t we go on one more hike AND I AM SO GLAD WE DID! This part was on the west side of Tucson and more in the mountains than the national park and the walk was STUNNING! Ahh! It was on loose rock and big rock and had quite a drop and climb but we loved every minute of it. It was so cool to walk among the cacti! Also, some people were setting up their RC cars to climb the rocks, which looked really fun. I wish they would have started before we left!
- Breakfast at Barista del Barrio. We randomly picked this place and it was delish (I got a burrito and chai) and the atmosphere was so fun – there was a band playing while we waited in the wonderful warm sun. (Random – there were so many places with purposeful vegan options. I wish that was more common where I live.)
- Dropping off more postcards. We sent ones to the Instagram friends we all have in common and all wrote messages on them!
- Hanging out with Val and her husband before they flew back at our adjacent gates at the airport. Her husband Steve flew with her and spent the weekend skydiving. I really enjoyed hearing about his weekend. He’s fun and easy-going and I hope we can spend more time together in the future!
- An easy and quick flight home. Ha, I gate checked my bag and my seat was on the aisle in the second to last row so I figured I would just board with the last group. I was getting ready to do that and they called my name over the speaker! Apparently the groups were done! But when I got on the bridge there were still people waiting there, so I wasn’t holding anyone up. Ha.
- The flight attendant complimenting my earrings. The one on the way there did too!
- Steven picking me up and us catching up.
- Stopping to get El Famous for dinner.
- Watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. That was a close game! I thought I was just there for the Halftime Show but I actually watched the game.
- Getting my things unpacked and mostly put away.
Monday
- 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep! That felt so good. Only Ned slept with me which is probably why I slept so well – less cats.
- Catching up on laundry.
- Going on a walk in the sun and listening to the Ali on the Run Show. It was warm for February – it got up to 50°F!
- Getting groceries (it felt good to be productive).
- Picking up packages at my PO Box.
- Taking a bath.
- A very short nap that felt so nice.
- Chocolates and a Valentine from Steven.
- Steven bringing home my fixed jackets from the dry cleaner. It’s so nice not to have holes in them anymore.
- Watching The Last of Us together.
Lowlights
- The trip being over.
- The Thai restaurant messing up our Monday night order. Steven is out of town all week so we were going to have a fun dinner last night but they added egg to both our takeout dishes. So he could eat them, but not me. Not a big deal at all, I was just really looking forward to them. He called and they’re at least going to refund him.
I am happy to see that you didn’t try to do ALL THE THINGS on your Monday off, aside from laundry and groceries. The right amount of productivity to get ready for the week ahead while also relaxing! Yay! And yay for 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, woop!
Thank you! I knew you would be proud of me!!! I really hate the days when I do that to myself, but can’t seem to break the cycle. Baby steps!
