A few highlights from the weekend!

Thursday

  • I planned my Thursday to be super busy with the hopes of a chill Friday. I:
    • Went to my PO Box and picked up one package and saw I had to come back for another during open hours
    • Ran (it was my runniversary!)
    • Filmed myself unboxing the package (a thank you from my friend Lindsey for having her on Meet the Maker! So sweet)
    • Video chattted my snister to show her a bunch of blazers I was donating (she wanted to check out most of them – and she told me this morning that one will work for her work headshot on Wednesday, yay!)
    • Started to get some rocks ready to resin later (I needed to do it Thursday when it was sunny)
    • Took a shower
    • Loaded the car with donations – Goodwill and a coat drive – and Ned (not a donation) and drove to the vet
    • Took Ned to his annual check-in (he did so well!)
    • Took the coats to the credit union (the tellers were so excited!) and dropped off the bags at Goodwill
    • Drove home
    • Filmed 4 Meet the Maker interviews
    • Baked two pumpkin pies
    • Ran back to the PO Box with the first pie in the oven to get the package
    • Finished the first pie, put the second pie in, filmed a reel with the pies
    • Filmed myself unboxing the package (a bunch of goodies the cats won in a donation raffle)
    • Video chatted with Val in Colorado and finished the second pie and resined while we chatted. Ugh, I accidentally was NOT on wifi when we had our call and I used a ton of data and went over (again) for the month. I had turned wifi off to get something to work and forgot to turn it back on immediately. GRRR.
    • Video chatted with Emily in Australia
    • Ordered pizza and pasta
    • Enjoyed pasta with Steven while watching Don’t Worry Darling

Friday

  • Ugh. Spoiler alert. Friday was not chill. I woke up determined to return something that I ordered the wrong scent of during a delivery that week and my morning went off the rails with stupid inconveniences from there. Everything was making me mad. I guess this should go in the lowlight section. Long story long, I did the return, got groceries, walked, went to two more stores for other things we needed, then went home and cleaned, then took a hot bath to chill the eff out. It worked.
  • Coming up with the idea to film the “Made You Look” dance (by Meghan Trainor) with Dad.
  • Successfully helping Steven dispose of a huge tire at the warehouse that has been there since he bought it in May of 2021. This tire was HUGE (we think maybe a CrossFit place that was there before left it there?). We were able to lift it and roll in on to the trailer then drive it to the recycling place. When we got there all the office workers were looking out the window gawking at how big it was. Ha. When we were trying to figure out how to safely get it off the trailer one of the workers there encouraged us to just roll it off, so we did… and it went where it was supposed to then bounced off a curb and started rolling toward everyone’s cars! I jumped off the trailer to knock it over, but it was too heavy to knock over so it went another direction and hit a concrete barrier and fell over. OMG. Glad no one or any property got hurt!
  • Having our arborist finish cutting down the trees by Dragonstone.
  • Finishing getting the house tidied up for my parents’ visit.
  • Painting a bit before they arrived.
  • Going out for Mexican food when they got there. We were planning to go to El Famous but it was closed when we arrived. I thought it was because they were having some work done to their parking lot, but it turned out they were closed because they had been robbed the night before. Sad.
  • Mom completely mishearing me at dinner and thinking I said “I wonder when I am going to start eating wieners.” (I said, “I wonder when I am going to start needing readers). We laughed so hard. There was a lot of laughing this weekend.
  • Staying up late doing a fun cat zodiac puzzle my snister gave me.

Saturday

  • Teaching dad how to do the “Made You Look” dance. He did so well after only learning it for a few minutes!
  • Filming the dance then going on a walk (see it here) and hiding rocks.
  • Trying all the different jams a friend from Germany sent me with Mom and Dad.
  • Dropping off a piece of pumpkin pie for my friend who works at the post office by us. (She had never had it before and loved it!)
  • Getting chais.
  • Going to the re:Craft & Relic market with Mom. It’s a market of mostly local Wisconsin artists and I found a lot of amazing holiday gifts and got to see some of my friends who were vendors. (Steven and Dad worked on a few projects while we were gone)
  • Wearing my cute holiday cat shoes that Jen got me at the market.
  • Chilling a bit at home before going back out to go to Sip & Purr Cat Cafe.
  • Petting and playing with the cats at Sip & Purr and donating rocks (none of mine this time – they were all from friends). It always feels funny to go to a cat cafe to play with cats when we have cats at home but… it’s so fun! There was this telescoping toy with a feather at the end that the cats there loved so we bought one and Apollo and Starbuck loved it too!
  • Staying up late playing Qwixx, a dice game that Stephany gave me.

Sunday

  • Going on another walk with Dad.
  • A yummy homemeade breakfast – biscuits and gravy!
  • Playing more Qwixx and hanging out at home.
  • Going to El Famous for a late lunch.
  • Going to Bath & Body Works with Mom and getting a super cute holiday soap holder of a cat wearing a scarf – and it plays a song for 20 seconds so you can wash your hands for the length of the song.
  • Having such a wonderful visit with Mom and Dad. I got fun one-on-one time with both of them, had a lot of “crying because I was laughing so hard” moments with Mom, and we had a lot of great group conversations and laughs too!
  • A chill evening and going to bed early.

Lowlights

  • Me doing what I do and making my days off full of too many things. I’m so scattered. JUST STOP IT KIM.
