A few highlights from the weekend!

Thursday

  • Feeling fast on my run after work.
  • El Famous for dinner.
  • Painting a funny rock when we got home.
  • The cats being out together. Ned was actually out all day Thursday for the first time since we gated up the office in January.

Friday

  • Having the day off. But why do I keep waking up so much earlier on my days off? Maybe I am more excited to get up, ha! But it’s so frustrating.
  • Starting to work on some temporary tattoo rocks. Now that I know how to resin, they are going to be permanent tattoo rocks!
  • Meeting a new friend in Milwaukee. Diane‘s Instagram focuses on her Sylvanian Family cats and the campground they live on. She has all these sets and accessories, including many she’s made herself. I used to build models in college (and a bit for work) and am fascinated by all the work she had put into them! It was really need to see them in person, and we hit it off. We made a reel of me hiding tiny painted rocks for the cats to “find” and it’s quickly become one of my most liked reels!
  • Eating a late lunch at Twisted Plants.
  • Knitting and watching a silly movie (The New Guy) after dinner.

Saturday

  • Taking down the office gates. Hurray! They had been up since January 8th – over two months. They were such an absolute pain to deal with. Mentally and physically (I kept bumping into them when I got in and out of the office and had bruises on my inner legs this whole time), but we needed them up to reestablish boundaries between the trip and Ned, and slowly re-introduce them. I am still not confident that Ned won’t try to eat all their food in the afternoon, but I have a plan to train him not to do that. I hope it works.
  • Hashbrowns and vegan bacon by Steven.
  • Finishing up the tattoo rocks and resining another one.
  • Receiving a card from a friend in Barbados.
  • Getting some knitting done after lunch.
  • Aldi having the vegan cakes a week early. Aldi has “special buys” that are only around once a year and last year they introduced these tasty vegan cakes. I saw they were coming back March 30th but when I was there Saturday they had them, yay! I stocked up since once they are gone, they’re GONE.
  • Bringing home toys for the cats that they don’t need. But how cute is that giant carrot?!
  • Painting after dinner – it’s been fun to work on my own designs. I should have been knitting…

Sunday

  • Party planning with snis. Her sprinkle is less than two weeks away!
  • The sun being out when I ran. Otherwise, I was NOT in the mood for that run, ha.
  • Watching Coda and knitting (when I was not reading subtitles). What a fantastic film. It gave me all the feels. And apparently, it won best picture that night at the Oscars!
  • Finishing a good book (A Closed and Common Orbit).

Lowlights

  • Being gone longer than I thought I would be Friday. Ha, in my mind. I build my Fridays off as this entire day of relaxation, and even though I was having a great time with a new friend, I mourned that I didn’t get the lazy day I craved.
  • Being so cold after my Saturday run.
  • Not being able to fall asleep after I get up to feed the cats on the weekends. I went back into bed on Saturday and Sunday, but no luck. I was too excited to get up and work on painting stuff. Ha.
  • Part of my nail chipping off Sunday. UGH. I cannot stand chipped nails. Let’s see if I leave it alone until my Friday mani!
