- Ned started using the cat house this week, and it makes me so happy to see him in there each morning and night, and especially to know he has a safe/dry/warm place to go! (Did I explain his name? We are calling him Eddard, aka Ned, after the Game of Thrones character. I call him Ned or Neddie.).
- Ned was supposed to get neutered yesterday but the veterinarian had to move it to next Tuesday. I think I’ll have him recover in the downstairs bathroom like Khali did after she was spayed.
- One of my rock painting friends told me about the quarterly Pusheen Box so I ordered the fall one and it came yesterday and was AMAZING. This video shows everything that was in it.
- Twice in the last week my Garmin watch glitched and had the wrong time. I hope that’s not a sign of its demise! I use it as a watch 24/7 (I wear it while I sleep, too).
- We had our yard… regraded? Is that the right word? I need to ask Steven. Anyway, we had our lawn aerated then covered in top soil and grass seed. I can’t wait to see how it turns out! We’ve put our yard through so much in the last few years and it deserves to look nice now. Right now it looks like this:
- We started the Cats’ Halloween Advent Calendar on Monday! So far they’ve gotten a spider, a pumpkin, and an eyeball on a string! Apollo immediately destroyed the string but that’s okay with me – I don’t like him having string toys.
I wear my Garmin watch 24/7 too… how old is yours? I had a glitch recently but a reset fixed it.
I love Ned. He’s so pretty.
Hmm. I think I got it 3 birthdays ago? So three years. It took it a while to want to charge today. How old is yours?
Isn’t he? He’s so sweet too. He loves to he held.
I had to go back and take a look at how you built your cat house. I bought an igloo for Fake Jake which has a warming pad (plus temperature gauge and camera, of course!)… but as he’s gotten older I think he needs something more than that. I really need to build something larger that can have a heater inside like this. I’m just worried about the heat source for when I’m away. I keep thinking that maybe a sealed oil heater with a reflector plus a wire mesh to keep him from getting up next to it is the way to go? I dunno.
Thanks for looking at it again! I bet you would build the coolest cat house. We heard some people just use a light bulb, but um, yeah, that doesn’t seem great. You know what you should do? In floor radiant heating!!!! It would warm up an entire small space and be safe to leave on while you are gone!
Radiant heat is what he has now in the igloo shelter. It has worked great for years, but now that he is older, he’s tossing and turning more to try and get evenly warmed. I added a berm to protect him a bit from the wind (and it’s made from pipe insulation so he’s not losing heat from the sides)… but I think he really needs to have heat all around him. I tried attaching to heat lamp with a barrier screen to one of the igloos… and using a temperature gauge to regulate it, but it’s not the same has having actual heat being blown in. Hopefully I get time to play around with something soon!
I’m so glad you have that cat house for Ned – and other stray cats! They must feel like they hit the jackpot when they arrive in your yard. π
I thought I was a good cat mom, and then I realized I’ve never given them a Halloween advent calendar. MY POOR CATS.
Me too! I hope that mama and her baby come use it. And I hope they feel that way! We are happy to feed and take care of them!!!!!
OMG, you ARE a good cat mom! They will just appreciate the xmas one more now π
