My Random Thoughts Thursday draft was getting so long, I am breaking it up and posting some of it as “Tuesday Tidbits.”
- We got a new couch, loveseat, and chair last Tuesday! Our old furniture was from 2007 and beat to hell and we’re really excited to have something new. The cats are too. They immediately started clawing at it. Everyone got their nails trimmed last week, and I put plastic protectors along the sides and bottom, but they’re still digging at everything that is not covered. Sigh. We’ll enjoy its niceness for a while!
- Starbuck is not as interested in food as the other two cats and we sometimes have to coax her to eat her wet food by chasing her around the house, then giving her some dry food, then dropping a bit in the wet food bowl to get her to eat. It was making me bonkers, but I did it because last year the vet said he didn’t want her to lose any weight. When I saw him last week he said I don’t need to worry about her weight anymore, so I am not going to stress as much if she won’t eat!
- I have a really good internal filter that I sometimes listen to, and sometimes don’t. I wasn’t listening to it when someone asked me what I do and I brought up my old position even though I know it doesn’t make sense to, but I think it sounds more prestigious and interesting (even though I am SO happy not to be doing it anymore). I was listening to it when the children I was around were freaking out about bees and my mind immediately went to “tell the story about Luca and all his wasp stings!” NO, KIM, NO.
- I started 11/22/63 by Stephen King and am so excited to be reading it (I love time travel books) but it’s 849 pages and I am just… annoyed about that. Why King, why? Why does everything have to be so descriptive? I may end up skimming some of it so I finish it this year.
Oh, I love your new couch set…. would totally be something I would pick (color and style!). Hope the cats won’t destroy it too fast.
Aww thanks so much for the compliment! I hope they don’t too. We’re all really enjoying it so far! And I love that it hides their fur better than the last one!
I love the new furniture! Fingers crossed the cats don’t destroy it too much! My girls have been surprisingly good with the couch – though Ellie has ruined one part of my couch that I need to figure out how to fix. It’s not because she uses it as a scratching pad, more because she uses that area of the couch to do her parkour tricks when she’s zooming around the apartment, so her nails catch on the fabric. SIGH. Can you NOT do your American Ninja Warrior tricks on the couch, dear one?!?! 😉
TELL ME YOUR SECRETS STARBUCK.
LOL!!!! That is what Khali is doing each night on the couch too – like having some parkour zoomies! I have no idea what to do! I mean, I understand they need to prepare to audition for ANW, but on our couches?
I wish Starbuck would tell me too 😉
