- I had my interview yesterday! The nice thing about it being virtual is I only had to style the front of my hair, I could wear shorts, and I could have notes all over my screen, ha! I think it went okay. I am second guessing the work examples I used, but I think I would be no matter which ones I used. This was the first interview of two, and I will hear if I am moving on to round two in the next three weeks.
I wore a jacket and did the interview in the guest bedroom (not our office), but here is the best pic of my hair
- Unfortunately I don’t feel as relieved as I thought I would to have it done. I feel sick to my stomach.
- Our library lobby is open now, and some of the holds I picked up last week were from other libraries, yay! I hope this means I can put a larger variety of books on hold now? (Or maybe they were just fulfilling my old, pre-stay-at-home order holds?) Either way, I have a HUGE stack of books to read!
- I love love LOVED not paying attention to Instagram much on vacation, and mostly ignoring Facebook. Then why are they my go to for boredom scrolling at home?! UGH, come on Kim.
- I learned about nettles while on vacation – the hard way – I brushed my foot against a nettle plant and immediately had white bumps with accompanying stabbing itchy pains on my toes. They itched all day and felt better the next day. I won’t be doing that again!
You looked so beautiful for your interview (and always). I am sure you did much better than you think, and your examples were perfecto. So proud of you snis!!

I’m sure it’s normal to second guess everything. I’m also sure you gave good examples. It’s just stressful when you want something so much.
Yesterday I was busy (OK playing Animal Crossing)(LOL) and didn’t go on FB or Instagram until 10:00 pm. It was nice! I didn’t miss anything, was able to scroll through want I wanted to see (mostly on Insta, FB annoys me too much), and I thought, I should limit myself to just once a day. We’ll see if that happens. It’s a good idea, anyway.
Stinging nettles! I learned the same way only with my shin. That was not fun!
That’s exactly it! I got to that line of thought and was like “why do I want this so much?” I really want to advance, and eventually move away from the mostly hands on stuff. This seems like my chance.
LOL! That is a really good idea! That is kind of how I was on vacay – I would check it before I went to bed, got what I needed (yeah, Insta only too) and it felt just right. Have you done your one check today?

AUGH I meant to send you a good luck message yesterday morning before your interview!! Darn it!! Please tell the hiring manager that they need to move you onto round two so I have another opportunity to send you a good luck message 😉 I hope that you hear back soon (three weeks?! That’s SO LONG! I would not have that kind of patience) and that the news you get is good news! I have my fingers and toes still crossed for you!
I like to stay off Facebook when I go on vacation too, and I totally agree: it feels SO nice. When we went to Hawaii, I forbid myself from all social media and the news the whole time (except when Kobe Bryant died, since that happened the day after we arrived. I let myself check ESPN once then.). I remember checking into our flight to go home and seeing a coronavirus update on the home page of the United app and saying, “Wow, that coronavirus thing is still happening?” The first day of February was such an innocent time, ha. I just have so much less self-control when I’m home about staying off Facebook, Twitter, etc. I get next to nothing out of being on them, but obviously there’s a lot more boredom that comes with being home compared to being on vacation, so I assume that’s why I default to scrolling more often. I don’t worry about missing out on any special moments when all I’m doing is sitting on the couch anyway. It feels a lot more wasteful to be scrolling away when I’m in a different place for a limited period of time.

Yes! That is exactly it – it feels wasteful when you are at a different, special place and aren’t just sitting around. I am glad you could do that when you were in Hawaii! (And lol at your coronavirus still happening comment, ha). Does Hawaii feel like a lifetime ago to you?
First, I love those signs in your library! How adorable are they??? I’m jealous your library is OPEN, even at limited capacity. We’re still during curbside and wait times are crazzzy. But I’ll take what I can get!
Second, congrats on a great interview! I think second-guessing yourself is so normal, especially for a position you really want to get. (It reminds me of dating, lol. “Man, I really like this guy. I hope I gave him a good impression. I want to go on another date with him!”) Fingers crossed you make it to round two!

I like what the library has done for spacing in the lobby. Do you get stressed out by having a lot of books to read? (I do, especially when a hold becomes available, and I feel like I don’t have time to get to it.)
My fingers are crossed that you hear good news about the next round soon! Interviewing is always so tough, and you’ll always second-guess yourself. It sounds like you were very prepared and made the most of the situation (so many sticky notes), so I hope you can take comfort in that fact!
I thought that was really fun, too! And all the characters have a note that say to wait until the character ahead “needs a friend.” It’s cute. I used to get really stressed, but while on vacation I realized a book I wanted to read was going to be due right when I got back with no renewals and I thought “whatever, I have my whole life to read that.” So I feel more chill now, just guilty if I have them sitting while someone else could be reading them!
Thanks, I appreciate it! It’s weird, I knew I would second-guess my examples but I thought I would feel so much more relief that it was a let down I didn’t! I am still wavering from feeling great and confident to blah… so hopefully I hear soon so I know which I should feel, ha!
I am so glad your interview went well!!! I understand why you wouldn’t feel immediate relief after it was done – because there is still more waiting and worrying to go until you get the relief of a definitive answer. But you looked great and it sounded like you did well, so fingers crossed you make it to round 2!
So nice your library is open again – hooray! Those signs are great! Getting a stack of good books to read will hopefully take your mind off waiting to hear about round 2 for a while 😉
BTW did you recommend “The Body Lies” by Jo Baker to me? I had it on reserve, but I couldn’t remember who recommended it to me, and I couldn’t find it on your blog anywhere. If it wasn’t you, I can highly recommend it – it was a good thriller and a quick read!
