Notes:
- My hip felt so good (pretty much normal!) during my Tuesday morning strength sesh that I decided to try running after work. I was so excited all day! I did a 10 min walk, a 1 mile run, a 5 min walk, a 1 mile run, and a walk back to the car. My gait was decent for the run portion, but right when I was about to start my second run (going up a slight incline!) it must have been a little funky because a runner coming by said “good job, keep it up!” Ha. I felt really slow, and even though I kept my HR low, kind of like I was working harder than I should… but it was also after 4 pm and summertime so who knows (I usually don’t run then!).
- I did little test runs during my next three walks (running for 10-30 secs) and decided to try running again Saturday. I was going to do a run/walk interval but I felt so good I ran three straight miles (after a warm-up)! Yay! And I felt fine the rest of the day Saturday and for my Sunday workouts.
- I’ll definitely be incorporating warm-ups (WU) and cool-downs (CD) in to my future runs, and doing the entire run on soft surface (crushed limestone). My goal next week is to run every other day (four times) but if that feels wrong, I will cut back.
Hooray! It sounds like taking some time off and being careful really paid off – so glad you are able to get back to your running again! Enjoy it!
I think so! Thanks! I am sitting in my running gear now, waiting for the sun to rise and the park to open! Ha!
