- I’ve been feeling a lot of anxiety at work lately because I’m waiting for the supervisor listing for my team to open so I can finish my resume and apply (I’m waiting on the core competencies in the listing before I finish it – I need to know what they are to match my resume examples to them). I hate putting things off at work and it’s making me feel extremely agitated. They’ve been saying it’s coming out in a week or two for a month. I just need to remind myself that when it comes out I have time to work on it, and will work on it right away so my reviewers have plenty of time to read over it before it’s due!
- Also work related – I really want a vacation. I need a chunk of time off to chill. On Tuesday I put in my request for July leave for our annual river trip and that made me feel better.
- This month marks ten years since I switched from being a vegetarian to being a vegan! To all of those who said I wouldn’t stick with it – GFY!!!!
- Speaking of being vegan, I was looking for vegan sprinkles online for a cake Steven wants to make, and I found this container of 2.2 lbs of them on Amazon. The reviews were hilarious, and a huge part of why I bought them. Now I have until 1/28/21 to eat them all. Challenge accepted. Sprinkles on everything!
- Speaking of Amazon, ugh:
- Apparently they remove things from your wishlist if you buy it for someone else? That’s kind of annoying. I still want it for me.
- They canceled the shorts order I placed June 2. I REALLY NEED THOSE RUNNING SHORTS. Sigh. Hopefully those Target ones come back in stock. Wah, right?
- Our classic rock radio station does this thing M-F called the “Daily Driver” where a listener gets to pick a few of their favorite songs to have played throughout the day, and do intros to them! I finally remembered to apply this week.
Ugh, I want a vacation, too! I think that’s why I’ve been feeling so anxious and down lately – I just need time off work and to get away. But I don’t know when that’s going to be possible, especially here in FL where things are getting progressively worse with COVID-19.
Happy 10-year vegan-aversary! I snorted at the “GFY” comment. π
Gah, so it’s like you can only do a stay-cation and what’s the point?! You are already home all time!!! π When does your mom move in to her new house with the pool again? π All joking aside, I hope you can take a real vacation soon. Somehow.
Thank you! Ha, glad it made you laugh. Realizing it’s been ten years made me think about all the comments I got about it back then!
GFY – that made me both laugh and realize that I need to apply the sentiment to some things in my life right now. Congrats on making the change and sticking with it – I’m sure it’s been challenging to make sure everything you want to eat is kosher (ok wrong thing but you get it). Your commitment is admirable.
Shorts canceled? Nooooo! I hate it when you can’t get the specific running item that works. Hope you can find an alternative soon; it’s hot running weather now for crying out loud!
Hee hee. Yes! Apply it liberally, as needed! Thanks! It was more of a challenge then, but it’s a lot easier now!
Right? WAH I NEED THEM. I wonder if they are all sold out because so many people are in to working out now. Hopefully that is why!
I need to take some time off. I missed the time off I expected to have in May for a conference I planned to attend (officially not time off, but it would’ve involved a trip, and while conferences are still work, it’s different when it’s in San Diego and not the guest bedroom!), and we were thinking about going to Seattle in June to visit my grandparents, which also obviously isn’t happening. It’d be nice to have some days where I don’t need to work! My boss reminded our whole team a few weeks ago that there’s no guarantee HR will let us roll over more PTO days than usual to 2021 to make up for not being able to go away in 2020, and everyone isn’t going to be allowed to take time off for two straight weeks at the end of the year. I’m considering taking an extra long weekend over the Fourth of July just because.
Not from Amazon and also not shorts, but your comment made me think of it: we FINALLY were able to order some weights we’ve had our eyes on for months! The company just reopened their factory a week or two ago and can start fulfilling orders again. We got PowerBlocks (adjustable weights – came highly recommended from some of our friends) and I’m SO excited for them to arrive tomorrow! I’ll have heavy things to pick up and put down again! I hope your shorts are in stock soon so you can have similar workout-related excitement!
Oh gosh, yeah, it sounds like you do need to take some time off, for mental health reasons and especially if it’s not going to roll over. I am sorry those two trips got canceled (how are your grandparents doing?!). A long Fourth of July weekend sounds nice. Maybe less of a chance to come back to lots of stupid work stuff if other people take time off too!
Yay! I am so excited for you! Don’t overdo it this weekend π LOLOL But I am so glad those things are back in stock for all of us! I have been adding some weight training stuff to my birthday wishlist.
They are doing great – thank you so much for asking! They live in a retirement community and it’s gone above and beyond to take care of everyone who lives there (like they don’t even have to retrieve their own mail anymore), which I think has really helped.
Yay, I am glad to hear they are well and that the management of their retirement community is doing such a stellar job!
Do you think you’ll be able to use all the sprinkles in time? (Seriously, do they go bad??)
Good idea to request your time off for July so that you have something to look forward to.
I highly doubt it! It’s so many sprinkles! A friend did offer to help me consume them though π I think they actually might go bad since they are made of more natural ingredients than store bought.
Right? It’s like all those studies say – most of the enjoyment of time off is looking forward to it, and having it taken off officially helps with that. (I do NOT understand my coworkers who know they are taking time off and do it the day of. Huh?). And I feel grateful we have a family place to go to! I am not sure where else I would go in July. Not sure about our August road trip happening!
