- File this under dumb stuff that cracks me and my snis the hell up – last week she asked me how I address a group of people in an email and I said I usually write, “Hey all you f*ckers, listen up,” and she was like, “okay, so HAYFLU for short?” Then we were giggling way too much about it, and now start some of our conversations with HYFLU (hey you f*cker, listen up). Buah ha ha.
- In other silly news, Starbuck usually goes around the house saying “I’m coot and smöl,” but last weekend, she started adding facts to what she was saying, such as “I’m coot and there are 230 bones in a cat’s body,” and “I’m coot and hydrogen is the first element in the periodic table.” Steven and I are learning so much! (Yes, we find this humorous.)
- Every year as the sun rises earlier and earlier, my natural wake-up time drops – now it’s between 4:30-4:45 (I haven’t used an alarm since we’ve been on our stay-at-home order). I feel great until mid afternoon when I want to crash, so I normally nap after work, and repeat the process the next day. This usually lasts until early July, then I start sleeping later again.
- Last week I took a training class about setting and maintaining boundaries. It pointed out what a slacker I am at having hard conversations, but also inspired me to do so, and I had one and feel so much relief. The class talked about the fears we have about setting boundaries and these spoke to me: conflict, not being liked, and hurting someone’s feelings. But guess what? The whole point was that you don’t have to do things you don’t want to, so if you have the power to say no, and a safe and respectable way to have the conversation, you should have it.
- We have one episode left of Homeland that we’ll likely watch at lunch today! Then it’s on to a new show!

That sounds like a really interesting training! Does your work bring in outside people to do trainings like that or are there people on staff that do them?
It was! A lot of our training is from outside sources, but we do internal training from subject matter experts (along with case studies and lessons learned type stuff too).
That sounds like a really useful class on boundaries! That’s something I’ve been trying to work on too.
It was! I didn’t think I needed to rehear why we are hesitant to address them and why we should, but apparently I did! (and they said how, too) I hope you make progress with it!
HAYFLU 4 LYFE
Boundaries. Preach! We (the royal) probably need to figure out how to set them better than we do.
You and your sister’s HYFLU damn near made me spit my drink on to my monitor. Funny ladies, you two are!
Starbuck is very intelligent…wonder where he does his learning? Do you leave the Discovery channel on for him during the day? 😉
Yes! I bet a lot of us do and that is why I took the class! It was interesting to hear people’s examples of work and non work stuff. Everyone struggles with it.
Hee hee hee. I am glad you thought it was funny too 😉
She gets NatGEO for kids! I didn’t even know she could read!
Seriously, that cat is so darn coot, I can’t stand it.
She says “Thanks! I’m coot and the world’s longest french fry is 34 inches.” YUM!
Omg, Kim, I am cracking up about Starbuck walking around, spouting facts! Hahaha. She’s a smart cookie!
You have such interesting trainings at your work! That would be such a useful one.
Buah ha ha, glad it made you laugh! She really is! We are learning a lot over here!
It was! I am grateful they offer all these. And just this week a new list of classes went around that may be offered soon, so I signed up for a bunch of those too. One was about using story telling to explain things to a client. I thought that could be interesting.
Coot en smart – what a combination!
Sounds like an excellent class you took!
The purrfect combination!
It was! I am glad it worked with my schedule to take it!
