- I was looking through pictures on my work phone and ran across this one of Data in the tub, during his phase where he wanted to be in it all the time (July and August 2018). This photo made me feel sad and guilty about his quality of life during his last few months. We did our best to keep him comfortable and let him do his favorite things (walks outside) but we learned a lot from him being sick – we probably should have said goodbye sooner than we did.
- I also found lots of cute pictures of the kittens I’d forgotten about, and funny ones of Khali!
- I really don’t trust my blog host. My blog randomly breaks and each time they give me a different bs reason. Sigh. It’s frustrating because I don’t understand the technical side of if all (which is my fault). The rest of this bullet is just for my documentation: Yesterday this blog went down and they claimed it was “due to exceed of query limit.” So they reset the query limit and told me to install the w3 total cache plugin to avoid this issue further. Okay. Ilaxstudio.com also crashed and they said it was because my theme core files were missing from the server. They were there Tuesday… where did they randomly go? It kind of sounds like their servers are getting hacked to me… or my blog. They said they have a backup from 14 days ago and I asked them to install it, but as of this morning, it’s still down. I hope they an fix it – there are posts on there that never transferred over here. Also, back up your damn blog, Kim.
- Whoa too much gloom and doom! Let’s do some random positive things. Here are some cookies we made last night!
- I had a fun hour long video chat with a favorite coworker at the end of the work day yesterday. She took this screenshot and sent it to me saying “you look so cute at home!” Aww, I thought that was sweet. I like how you can see my vast interests from our office – cats and travel.
- My snis gave me a coupon for a free cotton tote from Shitterfly! Which one should I get? Take my poll below (here are all the options):
[poll id=”16″]
I have a headset like yours, and whenever I video chat someone jokes about my call center job. π I voted for the floral tote!!
Snis! People tease me too! I am like, hello, I share an office so I am not using speakerphone, and my headset is comfy for (short, not all day) calls!
If I get that one I need your help with the font!
Ugh people! Yeah I share an office too, so I’m like either I hold my phone up to my face (exhausting) or I use my computer audio (rude). Once pandemic is over and Will isn’t at home anymore it won’t be as bad to just use computer audio.
Get one with a pic of your garage on it – sure to be a conversation starter! π
Ooo yeah, you’re right!!! Then Steven will want to use it π
I’m thisclose to making cookies. It seems to be what everyone is doing during quarantine, and I want in. I’ve held off because I ~officially~ gave up sweets for Lent, so making cookies didn’t feel right. Game on after Easter, though! (I’ve also had sweets a few times since Lent began, in the sake of transparency. Normally I’d feel bad about “cheating,” but as several people have said, none of us went into Lent preparing to give up, you know, literally everything about our day to day lives, so this year I don’t feel bad at all, haha. I also planned to give up social media unless there was an emergency. Famous last words! Now I have to go on Facebook just to go to church! The, “Man plans and God laughs,” adage has felt particularly relevant this Lent, ha.)
Question I thought of after seeing your video chat screenshot: how do you normally dress when you work from home? I typically work from home once or twice a week and usually wear workout clothes to streamline the exercising process once my day ends, but now that I’m WFH full time from now until ?, I have to confess that I’m kind of getting sick of my sweatshirts and miss my normal work clothes???? (There’s a phrase I never thought I’d say!) Since you work from home regularly more often, I’m curious if you normally “get dressed” for work on days you WFH, or if you dress more casually since you can.
At this point, even though you’ve already had some sweets, you are so close and might as well wait to make those cookies! Ha! Steven commented to me on how he hasn’t seen people talking about Lent much, and I told him that after COVID-19 a lot of people had to change their Lent plans. One podcaster joked about giving up Lent for Lent. But seriously, like how you have to use Facebook now, things really changed for people!
LOL, a phrase you never thought you’d say. Ha! I always get dressed to work from home – I never work in pajamas or workout clothes cause it makes me feel icky. In the winter (and most of the year) I wear jeans and a sweater or long sleeved tee. In the summer it’s shorts and a tank or tee. I don’t wear my work blouses but try not to wear a tee when it’s a video chat day (I try to wear something “nicer”). Do you think you’ll put on jeans and a tee? I wear jeans most of the time – mine are really comfy.
I have been wearing jeans! Today I wore a cotton t-shirt instead of a workout t-shirt, so I’m making small strides haha.
Woo hoo!!!
I find it so interesting to see the background when people skype in on the news shows now – most have bookshelves and sometimes you can pick out a familiar title. One lady had all her books organized by color and that looked really cool. Your background is nice except for the fan that looks like it’s about to take your head off, LOL!
Ha, I was just talking to my director about that and how she found herself reading everyone’s book titles and felt like maybe she should not show hers cause people might question her book choices.
Thanks! LOL, I know, total fan head! It’s very common to see on work calls!
Those totes are so cute! And the cookies look delicious π We were finally able to get some flour last week so can try baking again.
They were delicious! Steven put a bit of salt on top and I love that combo.
Yay! What are you going to make?
Not sure! Last thing I made was a vegan banana bread. Maybe that again, it was really good! We still have chocolate chips though so could go with chocolate chip or peanut butter cookies…
Ooo, make all the things! No, don’t, ration that flour π We were deciding between chocolate chip and PB cookies too and went with chocolate chips since I was not sure if I’d be able to buy another bar of PB (I was, so that’s next!).
Oh Data <3 I sometimes think I waited too long for Dutch, especially when I think about the way the vet acted when he saw him doing his nonstop circles. I didn't realize that was a sign that his dementia was far more advanced than I thought. Ugh. We did the best we could!
Would it be difficult to switch blog hosts? I use Bluehost and haven't had any of these issues that you've had! It's so frustrating to deal with these issues because we're so reliant on other people to help us!
Those cookies look gooooooood and I love your happy face! <3 Also, I am torn between the books and the cats on the stairs. I voted for the books but I also want a second vote for the cats on the stairs. π
Exactly, we did the best we could and learned from it. Our vet said to us a few months prior that Data was on his demise but we didn’t see it. Now we would. <3
I do not know how to, but I bet if I found a good one I could pay them to do it for me! I think I have over a year left with this host but if this happens again I will switch sooner. Thanks for the rec; I've been meaning to ask for one.
Thank you π
I would probably use the cats on the stairs as my bookbag!
It’s really hard to know when to let go of a pet, especially when they still seem somewhat ok. Don’t feel bad about Data. Although I feel bad about Kip, so there you go. Sigh.
We made chocolate chip cookies and then yesterday we bought six things of cookie dough from BB, which make huge cookies. We baked two last night and they were freaking delicious. Hopefully we can make them last through the entire weekend, LOL.
Okay I won’t feel bad but then you can’t either! π <3
Oh yum!!!! I am impressed you baked them and didn't just eat the dough... I would π
You do look cute on your call. I just texted you to ask about setting up a call with the four of us. ^^
I thought Khali looked a little round in that photo too. (Not as round as in the fighting photo!) Apollo is so small though!
Thank you! And thanks for texting me to set it up! I’m excited!!!
Buah ha ha, yeah, Khali is a bit on the fluffy side… π
