Notes:
- I skipped my Tuesday speed session because my left foot was stiff. It gets that way after my long runs sometimes (although it hadn’t happened in a month or so), and was achy all day Monday. It warmed up during my run but I didn’t want to push it with speed. Thankfully, it felt ready to do speedwork by Wednesday afternoon (otherwise I was going to call it for the week).
- My stiff foot came back so I skipped my hill session on Saturday and did a bike ride instead. I’m hoping wearing supportive shoes (instead of my slippers) in the house helps, otherwise I will cut back more next week if I need to.
- I felt fabulous for my Sunday long run, so wearing the shoes inside for the day (and taking the day off running) must have helped! Yay! I was even able to finish my long run with my fastest two miles!
- I think I’ve maybe only lost a pound or two during our stay-at-home order, but my pants and workout shorts fit a lot looser! Probably from all the strength sessions (or because they got stretched out, ha!).
- I got an email a few weeks ago to renew Runner’s World magazine (I no longer read it even though I was still receiving it – my subscription got extended for several years when Running Times folded, but I lost interest a while ago). I was surprised by the new subscription cost – $3.49 an issue if you sign up for two years. Apparently if you buy it off the newsstand it’s $9.99 an issue?! Whoa.
Magazines have gotten so expensive and also just full of ads – I stopped buying and reading them a long time ago.
Glad wearing shoes helped with your foot and enabled you to have a great Sunday run! I am always impressed by your mileage!
Yes, exactly that! It’s a bummer! I used to LOVE Running Times, and was okay with Runner’s World. Now even the articles are ads for shoes and gear. Meh. (They have other articles, but the majority is ads.)
Thank you!
