- This was odd – Steven took some jars of coins to the bank to cash out and they said they don’t count change anymore, and that we should use Coinstar. But Coinstar charges you 11% (!!!!!) of what you’re exchanging, unless you get a gift card. So Steven exchanged all our coins for a Starbucks giftcard. That’s a win for me, but we thought we’d be getting cash. It’s so odd the bank won’t take change.
- A few people have asked me if I am excited for the holidays. I’m not. We’re so busy with the garage, and I’m so busy at work, that most (not all) things holiday related feel like an unwanted obligation this year. I’m sure I will enjoy it when it’s here. And federal employees were granted Christmas Eve off this year (we usually do not get it off), which is nice! I think I just need some chill time off.
- I am enjoying watching Christmas movies though:
- If you’ve seen Mean Girls you know the main character’s name is Cady, pronounced “Katie,” but that one of her friends pronounces it “Caddie.” I have a coworked named Cady (pronounced “Katie”) and that movie has conditioned me to read it as “Caddie”! But I remember to say “Katie” when I am talking to her. Phew.
- Random rant: why can’t people follow instructions? When I give someone a list of changes to make, why do they pick and choose from the list? When I am reviewing their work, I just go back to my list of changes and check off that it was all done! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.
- The WordPress update last week really messed up a few things on my blog. I apologize if you are having issues accessing it and commenting. I am trying to get them fixed (but don’t know what I am doing so it will take a while).

Our bank has a coin counting machine that you can use if you have an account there, and that’s usually what I do before we go on vacation – bring in our bucket o’ change and get some spending cash. But now you can only cash in $100 worth of change or else you get charged a percentage, unless you deposit it all into your account. It’s not a big deal but really? I’m your customer, not a random walk-in. Needless to say, I didn’t manage to get it done at all before our last trip, LOL.
I know so many people (myself included) who haven’t put up a tree or have done much for Christmas. Maybe we’re allllll just tired of this decade. Plus, Wednesday. Who does Christmas on a Wednesday?? (and sign of adulthood, I’m pretty certain Christmas happened on a Wednesday when I was a kid but I never noticed back then)
WP has not liked me for a couple of years now – I have to log in to each and every WP blog that I want to comment on, which hurts my lazy heart. Get it together, WP!! 😉
I thought that is what our bank would have. And it’s a big national bank! I would feel the same way about getting charged unless you put it in your account when you are already a customer. HOW MUCH MORE OF OUR MONEY DO THEY WANT?!?!?!?
Christmas on Wednesday is such bs. Midweek holidays are in general. Ha. Good point there. We have guests arriving tomorrow through Tuesday and I have to work Monday. I don’t have a lot of leave and… Christmas is on a Wednesday. Ha.
I’m annoyed when I have to log in on someone’s blog to comment. Sigh. Mostly because it used to not log me in and lose my comment! So I’ve gotten in to the habit of copying it before it posts.
Our bank now gives wrappers and if you make rolls they will cash it out for you. I miss being able to just dump it in the machine…
WTF. Like, wtf. What was so hard about the machine?!
It’s not sad about the bank, it’s lazy. Sheer laziness. They nickel and dime us and constantly reduce services. Lovely.
As for WordPress… so happy I don’t use it. No support when there are issues.
