A few of my friends have kids going to our alma mater, and they’re moving in this week!
Nostalgia forced me in to the basement, in search of photos from my college move-in weekend to Iowa State University. I moved in on Wednesday, August 21, 2002. Here’s Dad, Christina, and me relaxing after moving everything in to my dorm room:
And here is a selfie (so ahead of the times!) I took two days later, Friday, August 23rd. I took this selfie because I had just taken braids out of my hair and wanted to document how curly it was!
This date, today’s date, August 23rd, didn’t mean anything to me until I made the connection looking at these photos, but that’s the night I met Steven (I was a freshman and he was a senior). We both had friends take us to a frat party, he and I chatted and connected, he walked me back to my dorm, and asked for my number. And the rest is history!
I’ve known Steven for seventeen years as of today! I’m thirty-five, so I am getting close to knowing him for half my life! Awwwwwww.
Aww..l that’s so cool that you still have these old photos! And that one f them is from the day you and Steven met 🙂
I am so glad I have these pics too! Documenting life with photos and writing is so important to me!
I love this 3000.
3000!!!!!! I read some little factoid about what that was referencing in Endgame and now I can’t remember!!!
It’s move-in day at my college for the Class of 2023, which O.O I can’t believe the new freshmen are going to graduate 11 years after I did. How is that possible?! It doesn’t feel like I’ve been out of college that long! Also, so cool that today is your and Steven’s meet-iversary! You should take a selfie to commemorate the occasion 😛
I was saying the same thing to Steven about the people moving in this week… that I am 17 years older than them… technically old enough to be their mothers! HA! I still feel so young and hip 😉
Ahh! I should have! I did take some selfies with my nephews! (P.S. He got Bearito! I will post a picture later!)
Awww! I love that you have that selfie to remember your meet-iversary by! And how amazing that you met Steven on your first day of college!!
It is amazing! My college experience would have been so different (probably also good, just different) had I not. It was nice to know a senior, especially someone who had family and town and knew all about the city. He helped me a lot my freshman year, but I spent a lot of time with him and not as much time making friends that year (which is fine, just different, like I said).
Awww…nostalgia!!! So sweet how you guys met 🙂
