- Oh my gosh, the cats were being so cute Monday! (Also, I had to switch that orange blanket out to something more insta-worthy. Not sure why I used it for so long. I love orange but it doesn’t look great in photos – it’s too jarring.)
- I stopped in B&BW last week and they were already putting out Fall candles. WHUT. Obviously I got one (a scent I love and never found last year). <— basic
- I love how my dip manicure looks but I don’t think dip is for me – one nail chipped the next day, a few chipped Monday, and one completely popped off Monday night! So it didn’t even last four days. Grrr. (Another popped off right before I published this.)
- Woot! Morningstar corn dogs are now vegan (they had egg in them before). I’m stoked – I loved these when I was vegetarian! (Field Roast also makes vegan (miniature) corn dogs (that are good), they’re just kinda expensive, and I’m not a corn dog baller).
- I just finished An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth. I was fascinated reading about the preparation of going to space, what it’s like to go and be there, the process of returning, and all the things that happen after return. The angle of the book is how the lessons learned working in the space industry can apply to anyone’s life – being super prepared, sweating the small stuff, being a team player, etc. Those parts were fine but I was really in it for the details on the space industry (which I got). Also, man, this book made me realize how much I wing ALMOST EVERYTHING. Oops…?
- After three memoirs in a row, I started a fiction book, Blake Crouch’s Recursion, about a cop investigating False Memory Syndrome – a syndrome where people all of a sudden have vivid memories of an alternative life they never lived, and go mad from it. The story is also about a neuroscientist who is researching how to document memories to be relived, for people suffering from memory loss. I just started it, but it’s good so far!
- I thought the trailers for the movie Shazam! made it look really dumb but we watched it this week and I thought it was a lot of fun! I was shocked I liked it. Crazy how a movie trailer can really turn you off!

It’s always a good day when cuddly kitties lead a post. π
I was at a trendy burger restaurant last night and saw the Impossible burger on the menu. It cost five dollars more than a regular burger – is that normal? Seemed kinda punishing to be a vegetarian, sheesh!
Also, I’ve been wanting to see Shazam! and now I want to see it even more, thank you! π
π π π
Sigh, yeah, it is. They’re pretty expensive since they’re made in a lab. It does feel punishing. $5 seems high, I usually see $3 more.
Cool! Let me know what you think of it!
Fiction sounds like a nice change of pace after three memoirs! I don’t usually like to read too much of the same type of book in a row (unless I get really into a series and need to devour the whole thing immediately).
Maybe if you burn fall scented candles now, it’ll somehow make the weather act like fall and the heat wave won’t happen?? One can dream! Haha.
It is a nice change! I really like memoirs so that was okay for me, but fiction reading feels like it goes much quicker!
oooo! I should try!!!!!
Ooh, excited to hear your thoughts about Recursion. Did you read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch? Such an interesting book!
It’s so crazy to see fall candles out already! It’s way too hot outside to even be thinking about fall. (Not that Florida gets a fall, anyway, lol.)
I didn’t, but I actually have a copy from the library and will probably read it next! I am liking Recursion so far (I know I am in to it because I keep telling Steven about the plot).
I agree that it’s too early! Save that for mid August or something π
Awwww the kitties are adorable! I really wish CB would take a page out of their book and start to snuggle with Ze.
The fall scented candles sound amazing. Weβve been on more of a summer kick or scents- grapefruit and lemon cookie (all from Trader Joeβs) but the spiciness of fall ones is so comforting.
Thanks! I wish they would too! They’d be the cutest!
I have some candles I’ve gotten as gifts from TJ’s! I should try one! I’ve heard good things. We are using summer scents too – a zesty orange one and cupcake. Cupcake is more year round I suppose π
