Look at the beautiful fruit pizza I (meaning Steven) made to take to work today:
Because if you can’t indulge and eat something bad for you on your birthday, when can you?!*
Steven and I laugh every time we talk about fruit pizza, because we think the title is a bit misleading – it makes it sound healthy! I mean, it almost looks healthy from the picture, right?
Well, I (meaning mostly Steven) just made it… and can tell you, there are a lot of hidden sweets in there that are adding on calories. But damn, it is going to taste so good… let me know if you want the recipe!
*And by eating something bad for you on your “birthday,” I mean your birthday, as well as the weekend that follows it, when your family is coming to visit and it is going to be a big fun, stuff-your-face party (Hopefully. God. Why else would I have been eating healthy all week?!).
Oh wow, that looks delicious. I’ll have the recipe please 🙂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope it’s a great one for you.
That looks soooo yummy! Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great one!
Birthday greetings to you! Hope it’s a great one.
The ‘pizza’ looks great. I never seem to take the time to make those things look so nice. I’d love your recipe, though.
hahaha, I JUST sent you a happy birthday email telling you to spoil yourself and eat lots of junk food! Glad we’re on the same page! That “pizza” looks amazing! It’s almost too pretty to eat. Almost.
I’ll take the recipe!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wishing you a perfect day and a wonderful weekend with the famiglia!
HAPPY Birthday. You (I mean Steven) are hired as my new chefs. Can you start next week? I’ll be gone over the weekend and you’re busy anyway, but…say…Wednesday. 😀
Enjoy your weekend, seriously. And the pizza. I mean, seriously!! hee
the pizza looks SO good!!!
have a Happy Birthday!!!
=^..^=
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE! You have to eat something bad on your birthday. It’s the one day of the year treats have no calories. 😉
Looks awesome! They sell those at Whole Foods. And they’re amazing. So, tell me. What’s in the glaze on top? And what other unhealthy hidden gems go into the fruizza?!
That is so pretty! It’s like a fiesta on a plate!
That looks too pretty to eat!
Fruit Pizza it is, but the culinary world knows it as a tart.
Those are so good… and tasty.
And hope you had a great birthday.
Ooooh soo shinyyy. Yummmyy
Happy birthday again!!!!!!!!!
B R I L L I A N T ! ! ! I had no idea a fruit pizza could look so dazzling. I applaud you and Steven. How did you get it downtown Chicago? Your co-workers are so lucky. Wish I was with you on your Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, love Mom.
mmm!!! that looks amazing! i want the recipe!
Can you please come make ME your delicious fruity pizza goodness? Because I am now salivating…
That’s gorgeous! I’ve made fruit pizza many times, but never has it looked like a work of art. You (meaning mostly Steven) must have spent a lot of time arranging that fruit.
Happy Birthday, hon! Hope you have a fabulous multi-day celebration. is this your 25th?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope you had a great day. The fruit pizza looks awesome!
It looks like it came from a very expensive bakery. You (& Steven) did a great job.
Well, you helped some, right? 🙂
Wow! Soooooo pretty. Almost too pretty to eat. Almost. I love fruit pizza. I would have devoured that!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM 🙂
Happy Birthday, what a major creation, go Steven! I’m so impressed, and yes, please forward that recipe! Looks amazing!
Happy Birthday! And I would love the recipe. That looks delicious!
I love fruit pizza and it is all about the cream cheese with sugar and cookie dough that is on the bottom (or at least that is how we make it LOL)!!! Enjoy your pizza girl!!!!
Happy (late) birthday! That fruit pizza looks amazing.
happy birthday!
I was talking about fruit pizza with my folks just last week… been a long time since I made one. Yours (by which I mean the one made mostly by Stephen 😉 looks great!
Here is the recipe for everyone (I did not add the editorial comments – that is how I found them in the book):
Fruit Pizza
1 (18 oz.) pkg. Pillsbury sugar cookie dough
4 oz. cool whip
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/3 c. powdered sugar
1 T. vanilla
Fruit of your choice (I usually use strawberries, kiwis, bananas, mandarin, oranges & pineapple)
GLAZE:
½ c. sugar
2 T. cornstarch
Pinch of salt
½ c. water
½ c. orange juice
½ c. lemon juice
Slice cookie dough 1/8-inch thick. Put on lightly-greased large pizza pan or cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes; cool. Blend cream cheese, cool whip, powdered sugar and vanilla, and spread over crust. Place fruit on cheese mixture (be creative). Starting on outside with strawberries is more colorful.
For glaze: Mix dry ingredients together, gradually add water and juices, heat over medium heat to boil. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Cool and pour over pizza.
May use pie filling and other fruits in winter. Grapes are also good on it.

suze – Thanks… for the birthday wishes and compliments on the pizza. It was delicious. It was worth every extra calorie, ha ha 🙂
Amy – Thank you!
Odie – Thanks! That is where Steven did most of the work – taking the time to make it look beautiful. He has more patience than me. I like to say I was the “Artistic Director.” 😉
Gina (Mannyed) – I think we are ALWAYS on the same page! 🙂 Thanks you for all of the birthday wishes! I finally put some flowers in the vase! It looks so pretty 🙂
Cat. – So we’ll see you on Wednesday? Hee hee. It is only every once in awhile that we make things this fancy! Thanks for the birthday wishes! 🙂
CourtneyInControl – Thank you! And thank you for the ADORABLE book! I love the saying “no outfit is complete without cat hair”! SO TRUE! 😀
diane – Can Christmas be another day of the year where treats have no calories? Ha ha! Thanks for the birthday wishes 🙂
Nilsa – The glaze on top has corn starch, sugar, water, lemon juice and orange juice in it. It smelled AMAZING when I was cooking it on the stove. The other “hidden” unhealthy gems are the cream cheese/whipped cream base, and … the fact that the “dough” is a big sugar cookie! But it’s SO GOOD!
sizzle – It is like a little fiesta! Too bad I was taking it to work… and not a fiesta! Ha ha 🙂
ajooja – I did feel REALLY guilty cutting the first slice! But then I realized it still looked really cool even when it had pieces missing 🙂
martymankins – I wasn’t sure if it was a tart or not because it doesn’t have that little ridge on the side. You know what I mean? But I would rather call it a tart than a pizza! Thanks for the birthday wishes 🙂
Christina – I love that it looked shiny. I think the glaze adds a lot to it! Thanks for the birthday wishes. When are you coming back here? Should I put the scary tongue photo on my new bulletin board?!?!?!?!?! 😛
mom – I am so happy you stopped by to see the photo! I called you on Thursday morning to tell you to look here, but didn’t get a hold of you 🙂 I carried it downtown (carefully!) on one of those cake platter that has a huge dome that snaps on to it. People in the street were looking at me funny! Thanks for the birthday wishes (and all the presents!!!).
marissa – Thanks!
Hilly – Maybe I can make you one when you come here for your get-together with Tori… if that is still in the date book? 🙂
SJ – HA HA HA! I love your little aside in parenthesis… 😀 You always make me laugh. Thanks for the birthday wishes! It was my 24th 🙂
Denise – Thanks for the wishes. I did help a bit. I… supervised! A lot of my coworkers told me they thought it was from a bakery. What a nice compliment. Thank you!
Robin – It was definitely devoured!
Courtney Ilax – Thank you!
javaqueen14 – Thanks! 🙂
tori – Thank you! I thought this fruit pizza might be something you would like to make with your kids. I bet they would have fun putting the fruit on it!
Felicia – Yeah, you got it right! That is where a lot of the flavor is from!
Jenn – Thanks! I always like when you post photos of your kitchen creations, so I thought I would too 🙂
claire – Thank you! It is a lot of work to make them… which is why I let Steven do a lot of it! 😛
I had to give you some link-love on this; Steven may very well be the sweetest guy on this planet! I still have not made it but fully intend on doing it this weekend 🙂
Came over by way of JavaQueen to check out your pizza. Happy Birthday by the way. Tart, pizza, call it what you want but it looks divine. I am on weight watchers and can’t have the hidden stuff but I suppose I could design my own with just fruit. When I reach losing 100 lbs which I am 16 pounds away from my daughter is going to give me a 100 pound party and that would make a delicious desert. I could use black cherries, kiwi, strawberries, pineapple and lots of other fruit now that I eat fruit instead of cake, cookies and ice cream.
I think I’ve been here before through JavaQueen but here I am again to drool over the luscious looking dessert you made. THanks for sharing the recipe with us all. And a very happy birthday to you!
JQ14 – Thanks for the link! I really can’t wait to see yours! They are all so unique!
joanharvest – Oo, that 100 lb. party is such a cool idea! Congrats on being so close! What an amazing feat! The cool thing about eating healthy is that you start to crave fruit and not junk after awhile!
teeni – Thanks! Are you going to try it out too? I hope so!
Hey Kim, what are those round red fruits after the kiwi? Is that cherries or is that strawberries. I don’t want mine to be unique, I want mine to be just like the one in the picture 🙂 Heee-heeee!
JQ14 – They are raspberries on the outside of the kiwi, and strawberries in the center of the pie. 🙂 We used blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, strawberries and pineapple.
hi got here from Javaqueen. That looks so divine. I’ve seen you posted the recipe alredy. I’ll try this one. Thanks & have a great day!
Jeanny – I hope you try it! It does taste divine! 🙂
