If you could attend one of the following events next year, which would you choose and why? Your choices are: Oscars, Grammys, SAG Awards, Golden Globes, Bloggies, Super Bowl, Indy 500, Daytona 500, the World Series (all 7 games), or your choice.
I know this is a weird question, but I’ve noticed that there have been awards shows/major sports finales televised practically every Sunday since the middle of January. And I’m always reading about contests to win tickets to these things, so it made me think… which would you choose if you could pick to go to just one?!
I would pick the Oscars because it is the only industry I can pretend to remotely know what the hell is going in. And I haven’t even seen Juno. Or anything nominated for an Oscar this year for that matter. Oh well. I can still say I want to go just to see all the pretty gowns and movie stars, right?
As much fun as I think the Oscars would be, I’m not sure I’d want to have to dress up like they do and deal with the papparazi. I’ll take the Super Bowl… even if the Bears aren’t in it. I’ve been watching the SB religiously for 22 years now (since the Bears won Super Bowl XX). I get it and the gravitas of it all. I love it. And I know how nearly impossible tickets are to get. Sign me up!
Honestly…. none of them appeal to me. I’d rather go see a boadway show or… take a nap even.
I admit it, the Oscars, just to see all the pretty dresses live and in person. Especially if I get to wear a pretty dress too!
WORLD SERIES, baby!! I’ve been to a Yankee playoff game and it was pretty damn fun, I could L O V E to go a YANKEE world series series. The All Star game is in the Bronx this year so I’m keeping my eye out for tickets!
*I meant would, not could love…:o)
Daytona 500!!!! i love NASCAR!!!! no doubt about it!!!! i am so determined to go to a race at Texas Motor Speedway at least once!!!!
it’s a stretch for me to pick one but i’d go with the SAG awards only because it seems where the people in the industry are more “real.” at the oscars and such i feel like they have to be more on. though i’m with you about seeing the gowns and stuff. that’s really the only reason i watch it!
I’m going to go with Golden Globes, simply because it’s the first of the movie/television awards. I also like that it’s in California in January. I almost picked the Super Bowl because of the weather but most of the awards shows are in LA.
Either way, going anywhere warm in January would be really nice. I’ve had four inches of ice in my driveway all week.
I would go to Comic Con….I don’t read comics but I always see pictures from it and it looks like it would be a blast π
Golden Globes, I think. They feed you dinner and there you’d get to see movie and tv stars. Even though the awards themselves don’t mean much since the foreign press assoc. is a bit of a joke, the Globes seem like a more low-key, fun evening than the Oscars. Plus people get up and walk around during commercial breaks, so you’d increase your odds of running into someone cool.
Hmm….good question. Though I love watching me some Oscars, I think I’d actually enjoy them more from the comfort of my own home on the television than having to get all dressed up and go. Now I’m sure the grammys are some GREAT entertainment, as I love hearing me some good music. Yet, still…
I think it’d be a tough pick between the Super Bowl and the entire series of the World Series. I think I’d probably choose the World Series only because you offered the entire series, thus I’d get more than one great game for my buck…HA! Love me some Super Bowl and World Series games!!!!!!!
I think I would pick the Oscars, but the Golden Globes would be a close second (I think it would be more of a party atmosphere).
I don’t even watch these shows on TV! Like Felicia, I’d pick Comic-Con – and I AM going this year! I’m even taking those days off work.
