My eyesight is starting to deteriorate and it’s freaking me the f-word out. I’ve never had to wear corrective lenses, so to wake up with fuzzy vision and not be able to clearly read text on my phone for a few minutes, or to see streaks around car lights at night (or even off of lettering on my shirt in the gym, wth) is concerning.
Not concerning that something is wrong with me or that something is bad about having unclear eyesight. I know an ophthalmologist can tell me what I need to do. I know this is normal and there are solutions!
Concerning in that it’s a reminder I am AGING. A not so small part of me was hoping I’d have perfect vision, naturally, forever. Is that even possible? Ha.
Ugh.
Imperfect vision is one of the first signs of aging. It’s annoying! I can definitely see you rocking a pair of funky glasses though.
It is! Wah! Thanks for letting me vent. And thanks for saying that. You know I love sunglasses, surely I can transfer this love over!
Boo! My vision went from 20/20 after Lasik to 40/20 which is “clear enough that I don’t need to bother with glasses”. In the past few weeks I’ve been feeling the same as you that things are getting fuzzier than normal. I’m going to put off seeing the eye doc for a little bit, but for sure I’ll drop in to see him before I renew my driver’s license next year. I have a feeling that I won’t pass the vision test.
Oh wow! When did you get Lasik? Would you get it again if needed? (Am I understanding that it was 20/20 right after Lasik and has changed to 40/20?)
I have had corrected eyesight since I was twelve, so this is a dumbfounding idea to me. My eyes are constantly changing and getting worse and better and it’s so confusing. The bigger issue with aging for me is how stiff I get if I sit in one position for longer than twenty minutes. This is a big problem for work meetings and car trips! Why, body? Why are you letting me down this way? Haven’t I treated you well?
Ugh, that is horrible! Do you feel all stiff when you wake up, too?
I have a number of friends who said their vision started changing right around the time they turned 40, so at least know you’re not alone!
And I agree that you’ll probably have a lot of fun picking out some frames if you end up wearing glasses 🙂
I am glad I am not!
I finally tried on the 0.5s Steven gave to me and they helped so I ordered some cooler frames LOL!
Ugh, I feel you on this. I never had glasses and I am not looking forward to having to pick up reading glasses but I am sure it’s inevitable. I hope we find a fun pair that we’re not too upset about LOL
LOL! I did find some fun frames on Amazon so there’s that!
I found my first gray hair a few weeks ago, and immediately called my mom to whine about it, haha. I AM NOT DOING THE GRAY THING YET. Aging is a cruel, cruel process.
Glad you found some cool frames for reading! It will be okay!
OMG! Your first! It’s definitely a moment you remember!
Thank you, I appreciate that <3
I’ve had corrective lenses since I was 18. BUT I’m still not ready to need reading glasses (or bifocals!). I’ve had silver hairs since my 20s so that part hasn’t fazed me at all.
Will you ever need them, since you have corrective lenses? How does that work?!
Welcome to your 40s! Glasses since age 9, bifocals for the last 5+ years, and a rapidly worsening prescription. So I hear you! You’ll be fine – readers should work for you for a long time. 🙂
Thanks for the encouragement!
