- I’m so excited to be Steven’s future copilot in the plane. He ordered some VFR Terminal Area Charts and was showing me how to read them Tuesday night and I loved it. I LOVE maps and wayfinding.
- I also bought my own headset, which set me back a pretty penny. Eek. But I will need it eventually and now I don’t have to borrow one that might hurt my head.
- I will see Lorena tonight to do my nails after not seeing her since August 17th! I can’t wait to catch up. Here is the last mani I got from Alex while she was out:
- I started planning our Europe trip! I met with a travel agent (thanks for the rec, Stephany) last week and picked a week to go. It feels so indulgent and amazing to have someone else doing most of the planning. I love it! So far, the plan is go to Brussels, Belgium; Amsterdam, the Netherlands; and Frankfurt, Germany. I picked these locations because I have friends that live nearby – Amy (blog friend), Anita (Instagram friend), and Katja (Instagram friend). I’ve met Amy in person before, but it will be my first time meeting Anita and Katja! Yay!
- WWM Fitness (where I lift) has social evening events sometimes and I offered to do a rock painting class and the owner seemed interested.
- Speaking of rock painting, my Instagram has been hovering just under 10K followers for days. I wonder if it will ever cross over (and if it does, how long it will stay there before it drops again, ha!). I’m so glad I don’t care about that follower number anymore, and can just find it humorous.
- In preparation for a potential government shutdown I was reading my last posts (2019, 2013) about it and trying to remember how long they were and if I worked the beginning of the second one (I think so?). I’m pretty sure we are “excepted” this time and will work for a bit. We’ll see!

Oh, how fun to read that post from when we met up in Texas! I have such fond memories of that day! π
I am thrilled you are coming to visit Belgium!
And I was also thinking of you with the news stories about the government shut down…I’m sorry you have that uncertainty hovering in the background again π
I do too! And I cannot wait to see your country!!! And you! YAY!
Thanks, I appreciate it! <3
Yay for the Europe Trip. I am excited for you (that you’re going to meet all these friends and that you’re going to Germany :)).
I was going to ask you about the shutdown and how you feel about it. If you’re excepted, does that mean you work but will be paid afterward? I can’t believe this is such a mess… AGAIN. If Congress could just do their job like the rest of us…
Thanks! I am so stoked!!!
It meant I would be paid on my normal schedule then go into furlough. I am surprised they actually passed something, but 45 days will be up soon! Were you excepted?
Yay – I’m glad you’re working with Amber for your trip. She is wonderful!
I’ve been thinking of you with this looming government shutdown – looks like they passed a very short-term bill, but at least that’s something. Ugh.
She is! Thank you so much!
Right! I hope they pass the entire year the next time.
