TL; DR: I tried to relax and catch up on downtime as much as possible this weekend. I took it easy on Friday and Sunday, and we had a full Saturday flying to Iowa and back in a day!

Friday

I was so exhausted from my Denver trip. I didn’t set my alarm to get up, but decided if I did wake up by 5:00, I would go to the lower body strength class.

And of course, I woke up! Just going to bed thinking about waking up made me wake up.

Class was really hard, in a good way. We focused on quads and I thought for sure I’d have crazy DOMS but they haven’t set in yet!

I worked all day (and got groceries on my lunch break) then took a nap after work. Steven and I had dinner at El Famous then packed our “just in case” overnight bag for the trip.

Saturday

I did set an alarm for Saturday morning so I could do a long run before we flew to Iowa. I ran 10.2 miles, and started listening to The Spanish Love Deception. It wasn’t as hot as it had been all week, but it was still muggy and it made me wish it would cool down just to kill all the bugs – running through swarms of them and getting them in my mouth was disgusting!

After I got back home I cleaned up, finished packing, and we drove to the airport and flew to Iowa for the day to see my snis for her (Friday) birthday!

Sunday

I slept in until 8:00 and got almost 8 hours of sleep! I was so proud of myself for sleeping later.

I was excited to see the sun would be out for my bike ride and decided to do a shorter ride and take my time getting ready to go. I usually ride earlier, but figured since it was Sunday I would be fine with traffic.

But I wasn’t thinking about how my route goes by the Ren Faire, so there actually was a lot of traffic. And I had to do an annoying detour I had forgot about, and one road on the route was completely stripped and jarring to ride on. Wah wah. I’m still glad I went, it just wasn’t my happiest ride.

I had visions of me being very productive on Sunday. I wrote a blog post, took a bath, prepped fruit for the week, filmed a new Fake Meats reel…

then took a 3 hour nap!

It felt so good. I finished prepping produce when I got up and we made dinner and watched part of The Flash. It was the super chill day I needed! (Unfortunately I slept like garbage at night but that’s what I get for napping so late in the day.)
