Some snapshots from my birthday yesterday! I took the day off work and had most of the day to myself so I was indulgent and did some of my favorite things.
5:31 AM
My watch wished me a happy birthday!
6:26 AM
I was worried I woke up too late and would be miserable on my run but it was cool for July. Yay! I listened to Hook, Line, and Sinker for my entire 14 mile run.
9:20 AM
14 miles finished! Why 14? You’ll see below. I felt fine for my run but was slowing down big time at the end. This body needs some rest (and will get it this week).
9:41 AM
I received a lot of presents and cards while I was gone in Iowa (the stack in the front), so I opened them all! I always feel overwhelmed by how kind and sweet people are to me. Thank you!
11:21 AM
25 mile bike ride because…
12:55 PM
14 + 25 = 39, the age I turned! This was my mom’s idea, and I liked it! It felt good to ride, although, I don’t normally ride in the middle of a week day, and had to stop TWICE for one lane roads due to construction.
1:08 PM
I picked up my free Starbucks. I’m usually not in a town with a Starbucks on my birthday to redeem it, so I was excited to this year.
1:29 PM
I received these gorgeous (cat friendly!) flowers from Val! When I got back from my ride I saw I missed the first delivery attempt so I called the flower place back and told them to leave them, and put a note outside that it was fine to leave them. I had plans to take a bath and didn’t want to get out to answer the door. While my bath water was running, I heard a truck and went to open the door in my towel assuming no one was there… and the delivery person was about to take a photo of the flowers. HAHAHHAHAHAHA. Surprise!
1:30 PM
Bath time!
2:15 PM
I read a bit then napped for about an hour. I’m trying to read Everything All at Once: A Memoir, but might DNF it. It’s not clicking for me.
4:21 PM
I got produce out of the garden to have with dinner. So many green beans and our first big tomatoes!
5:01 PM
I organized some things and resined a rock.
6:29 PM
I excitedly used my birthday gift from Steven – a height adjustable desk! I love it! He installed one of those wireless charging pads on it, and has some other drawer accessories for it too. He thought of everything!
7:11 PM
I had one of my fave foods for dinner – burgers! Khali was practically on my lap trying to get some.
7:47 PM
I opened the presents from my in-laws, then had some ice cream and started winding down for bed.
It was a great day! I wish I would have had a few more hours in it to paint, but that nap was much more important (and needed!).
What a sweet birthday! I’m glad you took the day off so you could really enjoy yourself – you deserve that!
Thank you! Me too! I will definitely be doing this next year too! (And every year I am working after, ha). TY for the gift!!!! 😀
Happy belated birthday again. It was great to read about your day. I don’t go to Starbucks very often, but I always get my birthday drink!
And nice work on the birthday mileage – wow! 14 miles of running and 25 miles of cycling and all before noon. Amazing.
A height-adjustable desk is great. And I love seeing someone else working with multiple screens. Hehe.
Thank you! I used to go way too much so it was a nice treat on my birthday!
Thank you! I really enjoyed both workouts.
Oh yeah, I LOVE having lots of screens. How many do you have?
I love how you TRULY celebrate YOU! That’s how it should be. I’m intrigued, though, by the bowl? Near the bath? Was that post-run fuel? (The chai, I get, the bowl? :>)
And also – no broccoli for dinner for your b-day? 😉
Thank you! I agree! The bowl had my oatmeal in it! 🙂
Oh my gosh, we still had so many green beans to eat, ha!
