My half marathon training is complete! I’m not doing the race I had in mind tomorrow, but did run 13.1 this morning for fun, and will likely do an “official” half in the late summer or early fall with Rachel!
I LOVED getting back into long runs. Love love LOVED it. I love how:
- the alone time recharges me
- I feel peaceful out in nature by myself in the early morning
- I have a lot of time to catch up on podcasts or listen to an audiobook
- I feel so accomplished by it
The greedy part of my brain is telling me to increase the mileage but the smart part of my brain knows to stay where I’m at. I’d like to do more strength training and lose more weight before I increase the distance. Maybe I’ll be able to by the end of the year. We’ll see!
Mega props on your half! And whoa that your last two long runs were more than 13.1 miles!!!!!
The thing about running is that if you’ve liked training in summer, you’ll like it even more in the fall with cooler temps and the pretty colors. I’m just saying that I won’t be shocked if you end up delaying your mileage cutback until the winter;-)
Thank you! Ha, the 13.85 was a mistake because I didn’t measure my route. The 14 was on purpose!
Oh yes! High 30s with low wind is my ideal running temp and I used to run tons of miles in the winter! I wonder if that will still appeal to me since it’s been a while (maybe I’ve softened?!). But! I am going to try really hard not to increase until I take care of those other things. I don’t want whatever that random knee injury I got from overtraining in 2020 to come back! I mean, I might go to 15 but no more! hahahahahhhhahah
Good for you! What a fun accomplishment and I hope you feel so proud that you’re telling everyone in your life about it!
Aww, thank you!
Hooray! Amazing work friend. I am proud of you for completing the training and the miles. You must have felt stoked to get it done!
Thank you! I did!!!! Makes me want to do it every week but I won’t, lol.
Congrats, friend! I’m proud of you for not only hitting this milestone, but for TRAINING SMART. And to continue to be conservative with what will work for you going forward. You got this!
Thank you so much! That is what I am so proud of too – for being smart about it and not overdoing it! That it’s not making me crazy to do it this way makes me feel like I’m making actual long term changes in my mindset!
You did an AMAZING job this summer – it’s awesome seeing how much you have enjoyed it (vs. slogging through it because you. have. to. :>).
Go you!
Thank you! I am proud of me!!!
