A few notes from the weekend!
This weekend was the beginning of all the trips to Iowa – I’ll be there three times this month. The purpose of this trip was to clean the house my friends and I will stay at next week (and to take the jet ski I picked up for my dad).
I was on the go non-stop while I was there (well, except for the hour and a half on the beach Saturday) and felt so spent when I got back. Phew.
Thursday Happenings | an 11 mile long run before work (I did it then so I wouldn’t have to fit it in over the weekend – I felt great on the run!) • being able to leave work on time to drive to Iowa • successfully pulling the jet ski there (it was my first time pulling a trailer behind my car!) • listening to a book (Wool) and seeing a beautiful sunset • seeing my family and having dinner together
Friday Happenings | a walk with Dad before work • seeing an eagle on the island • matching shirts with snis and Ella! • booking my August work trip to Denver • a delicious vegan “chicken” salad for lunch (a huge thanks to my snis for planning and making all our meals, and all the prep work she did at the house before I got there!) • cleaning from 1:00-8:00 (then a bit after dinner) • pesto pasta (from the pesto I made from our garden!) for dinner • painting with William, Leo, & Mom • finishing Yours Truly
Saturday Happenings | a run/ride with Dad • more cleaning • going to the Farmers Market and shops • delicious leftovers for lunch • more cleaning and getting my things organized to go back home • going to the beach (I’m so glad we could fit that in!) • driving home and listening to more of Wool • dinner with Steven and blueberry oatmeal crumb bars for dessert
Saturday Lowlights | eating a bunch of junk in the car on the way home • realizing I left my computer charger behind (but Steven figured out I can charge from USB-C, yay) • our neighbors having a really loud party (yay for earplugs)
Sunday Happenings | a 32 mile bike ride • finishing Wool on the ride • tidying up the house • Fake Meats work • going to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (I liked it, but didn’t love it as much as I thought I would!) • getting green beans from the garden for dinner • dinner and watching a bit of Rose Island
Green beans from your GARDEN. It is the time of year for you to reap the fruits of your labor!
So nice you got to spend time with your parents. How far is the drive to Iowa? What house did you have to clean out? I am sorry, I might have missed some info along the way.
I am super-excited about your green beans from the garden. I love green beans!
It was! It’s a 4 hour drive to this location. You didn’t miss info – I purposefully left it out LOL! My mom and her youngest brother bought my grandma’s house and that’s the one we were cleaning. It had a flood in January 2022 and hadn’t had a deep clean yet.
I wish I could share some with you!!!
Green beans AND pesto from your garden? You guys are having a great year already!
What a fun, family-filled weekend. I’m glad you got to see your family!
