When I ride my bike on the roads I never wear earbuds, so I can hear what’s going on around me. But, I always have music on – on a speaker I zip tie to my frame:
Everyone gets to hear it! Ha.
But today, I decided to try the Aftershokz – since they sit outside of my ears, I’d still be able to hear cars, no one would have to hear what I was playing, and maybe, just maybe, the bone conduction would work well enough to let me listen to a podcast or audiobook (normally, road noise from cars drowns that out).
And yay, it worked! I listened to a new book for about two hours.
Then the headphones died, oops. Luckily, I had put the speaker on my bike just in case, and it was perfect timing to switch over to music for the last hour and thirty-eight minutes.
I’ll definitely be using them again on my bike in the future (and remembering to charge them – they’re so new to me I hadn’t really figured out their limits, and realized too late when a quiet voice came over the audio many times to say “charge me.”)!
Oh, those are cool earbuds. I usually run just with one earbud in so I can hear cars/outside noises.
You would probably like this! I can’t believe how well they work!
Oh, that’s a great way to do it. You definitely DO need to be able to hear traffic noises, so this is a great solution.
I was so excited it worked out!!!
Oh wow! I love the design of these earbuds because they are probably so much safer than regular noise-canceling ones (especially for outdoor workouts). I’m the dummy who often wears both earbuds when I’m going for long walks, but I usually do them when it’s light outside and just around my apartment complex, so a *little* safer? Probably not, lol.
You aren’t a dummy at all – I have the same logic for when it’s light on and I am on foot (and have my pepper spray)! But I do recommend these!
Those earphones are interesting! I’d heard of them but was never interested. Since I exercise pretty much exclusively inside (it’s a long story) and never use my airpods when I do go outside for walks, it’s not been an issue. But hm. I’ll keep them in mind in case I am ever able to be outside more!
I def recommend them if you go outside (or to use inside)!
