A few notes from the weekend!
Friday Highlight | Having a great long bike ride. Normally my toes cramp up so bad but I really focused on wiggling them and forcing my heel to the back to the shoe and that helped!
Other Friday Happenings | Friday off/pay day • my friend in Australia receiving the birthday present I sent • riding 45 miles • getting a mani/pedi with Lorena • meeting Steven for lunch at a new place – Taco Pros (it was good!) • dropping off a donation at Goodwill • picking up our July 4th race packets • shopping at Aldi • finishing Georgie, All Along • trying to nap and being too tired, so watching And Just Like That… • napping with Steven when he got home • pasta leftovers for dinner and painting • seeing some baby tomatoes (exciting!!!) in the garden • starting Drowning
Friday Lowlights | getting a work call right when I got to my mani and being really thrown off (it was my Friday off but I needed to check my phone because of a situation that’s been going on for a few weeks) • being too out of it to figure out what mani I wanted • being so exhausted in the afternoon
Saturday Highlight | Feeling so great on my long run that I kept speeding up by accident! I seem to run faster when I’m talking to someone.
Other Saturday Happenings | doing my 8 mile half marathon training run with a friend then having a picnic • stopping to check my PO box and chatting with the postal worker • receiving postcards and pins from an Instagram friend • resining some rocks • lifting (I’m trying to do at least 10 mins of it more days a week to get back to it) • watching And Just Like That… • doing Fake Meats work • receiving a nice card from a friend in Australia • picking some fresh cilantro for our stir fry dinner • dinner and watching Silver Linings Playbook • our oldest nephew spending the night
Saturday Lowlight | fly bites (I can never remember if they are deer or horse flies, but ouch – they hurt when they bite and they swell so big on me) • how damn hot it was, whoa (it was “sweat dripping down your back just for standing outside” hot) – the resin was a nightmare – I shouldn’t have been working on it!
Sunday Happenings | morning lifting and walk • breakfast sandwiches • laundry and cleaning out my closet (something I started Thursday – it feels so good to get rid of things) • painting a few rocks • a little gardening and yardwork • grilling brats and asparagus • reading then taking a much needed nap • getting some supplies at Menards to build more supports in the garden • running and getting rained on • picking up a pizza • watching A Man Called Otto • finishing Drowning
Sunday Lowlight | still being so darn tired! I really needed that nap • how freaking long it took at Menards – we needed a wire mesh and no one knew where it was
The last time we went to Menard’s, we were looking for icemelt for our driveway (it was early spring, but there was still ice) and they had moved it from where it was most of the winter and no one knew where it had been restocked. It was such a frustrating experience! I’m not sure why the location hadn’t been updated in their computer system, but the employees were trying to help and just kept sending us to various corners of the giant store. *sigh* I got myself some candy on the way out as a reward to myself.
Ha, you know our pain very, very well. I was happy to get all those steps in but so freaking over it. I should have bought some candy too! Ha!
45 mile bike ride and an 8 mile run the next day? Yes you were tired! In the best way, I’m sure. I think I biked 25 miles one day on vacation and that’s my max so far.
Thanks for putting in that perspective! I think I am doing a lot and need to rest more. 25 is a lot too!
I can relate that you’re excited being able to run and bike again and you started lifting too. No wonder you wanted a nap! 🙂
Right! I am not sure why I didn’t realize that! I am taking it easier this week!
What a fun weekend! But yes, all of that exercise makes for a very tired Kim. I’m glad you recognized that. That’s the key! 🙂 A 45-mile bike ride sounds so intense! And then an 8-mile run on top of that? Whew. I would have been so very tired!
I am glad you all pointed it out to me! I have chilled it out this week and slept in one day!!!!
Goodness gracious, Kim! You were unbelievably active this weekend! As the others have said, no wonder you were (over)tired and exhausted. Glad to hear you got some much-needed rest. 🙂
