A few notes from the weekend! (Can you tell I am trying to maximize chilling? My July and August is so busy, I am trying to pregame by relaxing now, ha)
Friday Highlight | Getting a massage!
It felt so nice to get all my tightness worked out, and to catch up with Kim, who I’ve been friends with for years. I set up my next two massages too!
Other Friday Happenings | doing my half marathon training run before work (7.2 miles) • getting a massage and setting up my next two • getting El Famous and eating at the warehouse real quick then getting on a call in the car and heading back home to finish my work day GAH • receiving a package from a friend in the Netherlands (and I got one from a friend in Germany Thursday!) • eating dinner out with Jen, Troy, & Declan (my pizza turned out so good!)
Friday Lowlights | Instagram giving me the same “your account was compromised” message I got for Fake Meats on Kim Hides the Rocks after I posted in the morning, UGH (I also did not use my information anywhere with that account to get more likes and follows, and don’t use any third party apps) • work being nuts • not wanting to leave the house Friday for dinner (it had been such a week with work, I just wanted to stay home and chill. I was also not happy about eating out two meals in a row and not having any veggies (for INR purposes) but I pre-gamed with broccoli and it all turned out fine)
Saturday Highlight | Taking a nap and having time to tidy up my desk area
I put the prints from Jean up right by my desk so I can see them every day!
It felt really good to get a lot of exercise and chores (and an errand) done and still have time to relax!
Other Saturday Happenings | a long bike ride • a bath (and using my laptop to write a post in the tub, ha) • walking with Kris • picking up a prescription and a few things at Target • lunch and finishing season 4 of Never Have I Ever • ordering new running shorts (in size L!) – thanks for the help, Erin! • reading for a bit then napping • running Mega Maid (our robot vacuum) • setting up a charging station for my iPhone (the kind you don’t plug it in – you just set the phone down on) • chopping up produce and tidying up the office • leftover pizza for dinner • finishing Julie & Julia then starting A Beautiful Mind while painting • visiting the garden • finishing reading Fatty Fatty Boom Boom and starting Georgie, All Along
Sunday Highlight | The delicious teriyaki stir-fry we had for dinner
Steven was sent a bottle of teriyaki sauce by accident so we sauteed some fake meats and veggies and cooked some wide noodle (pappardelle FTW!) and it was SO FREAKING GOOD. I just love sugar. Ha.
Other Sunday Happenings | a strength workout and walking and watching Emily in Paris (I am new to the show!) • working on blog posts for me and for Fake Meats • building a cardboard cat house • grilling and finishing A Beautiful Mind and the rock I was painting • running with Steven • making a delicious teriyaki stir-fry for dinner and watching Yesterday • finishing the watermelon I bought Thursday – we really like watermelon • getting out brand new pillows to use
Monday Highlight | Spending the morning working out – it just brings me a lot of joy!
Other Monday Happenings | running • resining • lifting • riding • bathing • eating lunch and watching Emily in Paris • working on Fake Meats blog posts • writing postcards • reading and a very short nap • watching a bit of True Lies then making dinner • painting and watching True Lies • setting up stakes for the green beans and adding more twine for the tomatoes
Any weekend that starts with a massage is going to be a good one. Bonus points for teriyaki stir fries.
I haven’t seen Julie and Julia since it came out – does it hold up? I’ve seen A Beautiful Mind a thousand times and love it. I finally got the hubs to watch it a few years ago and it’s on my list to show to the boys.
YESSSSSSSS
Julie is so so so annoying in the movie, but it’s still good! A Beautiful Mind is amazing but left me emotionally hungover and sad! I am curious to hear what the boys think.
I really miss my monthly massages! They were the height of luxury. I could use my wellness reimbursement for them, but I think I want to put that towards a dietician. Wah! I should schedule a one-off massage, though. It would feel so good!
GOOD JOB ON RELAXING!!!!!!!
I think you should too! I am very excited to hear what it’s like with a dietician! Have you been able to look into it a bit?
Thanks so much! When I write these I always hope you will notice and be proud of me LOL!
Oh, a massage. I haven’t had one in forever.
Ugh, I am sorry about the IG message… my biggest frustration with sites like IG (or Feedly *grrr) is that there really isn’t any kind of real support when things go sideways.
Do you think you will get one soon?
Right! You just have to wait for it to “fix itself” or go away or whatever.
I just have to say, you seem like you’re rocking life right now. Fitness, food, friends, RELAXATION. I hope you feel like you’re in a good place (well, other than IG being stupid and the work nuttiness) because it sure seems like you are!
Aww thanks! I am trying to be!!!
