A few notes from the weekend!

Thursday Highlight | Receiving a surprise package from a friend (Bianca) in the Netherlands!

This is the second time that @happystones_netherlands has sent me a bunch of rocks to hide to help meet my goal of hiding a rock a day for the year. She also included Pusheen goodies, and a nice note about how she saw I was dealing with anxiety and burnout and hoped I was doing better. Now you can see why I was (am?) so addicted to Instagram – I have met some wonderful, kind, generous people.

Last weekend I told my snis I want to do a trip for my 40th birthday next year. I want to go somewhere I’ve never been, and I told Steven maybe I’d go to the Netherlands! I know a ton of people there. And while I am there I might as well go to Belgium, Germany, and Poland too (where I also know a lot of people)!

Other Thursday Happenings | working out in the heat after work (81°F) and seeing a big nope rope • receiving a card from another Insta friend • eating pasta and watching San Andreas then working on Fake Meats stuff on my computer • watermelon for dessert • weeding the garden and seeing a turtle by it

Friday Highlight | Pasta for dinner (whoa, lots of pasta talk in this post).

I’m struggling to figure out fueling for evening runs and despite having several afternoon snacks I still bonked our short run, so that pasta tasted SO good!

Other Friday Happenings | a morning walk • packet pickup on lunch break • sending a package to Bianca (I had to after she sent me so many rocks!) • running with Steven • eating pasta & watching Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope for work movie club • painting • finishing one book and starting another

Friday Lowlights | almost losing my s-word Friday am when Facebook Business Suite wouldn’t work and I didn’t realize it until I had spent ten minutes responding to Instagram comments (and none of the responses went through), thankfully, Steven helped me calm down by reminding me not to let it ruin my day • packet pickup having a long wait (notice a theme? I hate having my time wasted)

Saturday Highlight | Chilling most of the day!

We were both productive in the early morning, then it got too hot out to do any chores, so we spend a lot of the middle of the day inside relaxing. It was so nice! We haven’t done that in ages!

Other Saturday Happenings | doing my long bike ride • a yummy breakfast by Steven • getting gas & a car wash •  getting groceries at Woodman’s • getting a compliment on my Crispy Meows shirt (I do every time I wear it!) • chilling and watching Magic Mike’s Last Dance (it’s soooooo bad, like, wow) • a short nap on the couch • working on Fake Meats reels • seeing that a friend used their drawing of Khali on a postcard! • getting a package ready to mail to Australia • finishing Star Wars and painting • Khali longingly watching Steven grill (it really made me laugh) • pruning the tomato plants and thinning out the others •  grilling – Ned hung out a bit in my lap outside while Steven grilled • eating our delicious grilled meal & watching The Five-Year Engagement & painting

Sunday Highlight | Running the Highland Park Strong 5K with Steven!

The 5K I’ve been talking about forever finally happened and we met our goal of running the entire time! I will have a recap up tomorrow.

Other Sunday Happenings | hiding a rock before our 5K • running our 5K!!! • stopping by The Chunky Scone • catching up on computer and social media stuff • prepping the produce for the week • resining • having lunch and finishing The Five-Year Engagement • watching part of Funny People and painting • reading & a short nap • seeing the free race photos • working on my blog posts (this one and the race recap – it took forever!) • more resining • our neighbor visiting to pick up tomato plants • eating a delicious vegan Alfredo pasta and watching The Program

Sunday Lowlight | figuring out our neighbor’s contractor dumped their dead tree in our yard (Steven was mowing and found some tracks back into our woods, and when he investigated, he saw that there was a huge dead tree there that wasn’t before and looked like it matched the stump next to our neighbor’s driveway. Our neighbor happened to be coming home and had a photo of the tree they cut down and confirmed that was it. He apologized (totally not his fault, but appreciated!) and is going to have them take care of it. We have lots of dead trees down on our yard. We don’t need more, ha! I’m so glad our neighbor happened to be coming home and we could talk to him about it and settle it then rather than feel annoyed about it without knowing if it really was his.)
