The bottom two items feature food and weight loss so please skip those if not your thing!
Today I’m feeling thankful that:
- Steven is so hands on and able to fix almost anything and willing to do it. Something broke in our washer yesterday and he took it apart last night to figure out what piece to order to fix it (and we cleaned it a bit). The new part should arrive today and fingers crossed replacing it and putting it back together is all it takes! (Part of the reason I’m so appreciative of this is that I’m not this way AT ALL – I don’t have an engineering brain and hate figuring things out and doing research and love that I married someone who does.
- We’ve had such a lovely spring this year. Actual cool mornings and tolerable temps throughout the day. What a joy! Usually we only get a week or so like this but I feel like it was longer this year.
- I can use AI for photo editing and writing. I was going to crop the photo above to get a straight horizon line, then realized I could use AI to fill in the cropped corners. You can tell if you look closely! I love that it saves me time.
- We’re getting some much needed rain.
- I’m able to work from home and see the cats looking all cute.
- I’m able to run. It’s such a joyful way to start my day.
- I was able to paint a bunch this weekend. I’m doing a great job from releasing myself from feeling like I need to post new art each day on Instagram, but it does feel good to have a stockpile of images to post when I do want to. (I used to post new art every day and often a reel each day too. 14+ posts a week. Now I post once a day, art 5 days a week, and a reel 2 days a week.)
- My snis told me to try this Bubbl’r flavor – it may be my new fave!
- This ice cream flavor – Lights! Caramel! Action! – exists. It has graham cracker, salted caramel, and cookie dough. It reminds me of what I would order at Cold Stone Creamery when I was vegetarian – cake batter ice cream with peanut butter and graham cracker. Okay, not the same but so so good. So good that I will not be buying it again soon because I don’t have a lot of self control with ice cream.
- For my weight loss being more visible to me now. I wasn’t seeing it before. (April 2022 vs June 2023 below)
You are so lucky that Steven is so handy! And that he seems to do it in a timely manner. Jason is also good at fixing stuff….but on his own timeline 😄
That ice cream sounds amazing. Is it soy based milk or something else?
Thank you! I feel very lucky! And lol Jason! I actually said that to Steven last night – that I appreciate he gets it done and doesn’t drag it out.
It’s almond milk based. Please let me know if you try it!
I’m always amazed at what my husband can fix. The extent of my skills are paying someone else to fix things.
Uh yes please to that ice cream! And congrats on your continued weight loss!
It sounds like we are in a very similar setup! I am so glad you have a fixer too!
It’s so so good. GAH.
Thank you!
That is amazing that Steven can fix so many things – and like you say, he wants to do it!
And congratulations on your weight loss – you must be feeling so good about that! You look beautiful in both pictures, but with the same outfit you can really see a difference! It is not that easy, I find, to see the change in one’s own self. You have worked hard – well done!
I agree! And our washer is all fixed now! Yay!
Thanks so much! And thanks for saying I look beautiful in both because I did feel really beautiful in the one on the left too. Isn’t it interesting it takes so long to see changes in ourselves? It’s hard for me to see them in people I see frequently as well!
I’m thankful that, as the daughter of an engineer, my dad made sure I learned to be my own “fixer” 🙂
I feel like the changes as a result of your weight loss have been super noticeable (to me at least), but it can indeed be hard to see in ourselves because we see ourselves every day! My nutrition coach has me send her monthly progress pics for that exact reason, and if I look back the changes are really noticeable in the pictures even if I can’t see it just looking in the mirror each day. I’m glad you felt beautiful in both pics 🙂
That’s great! Does Terry rely on you to be the fixer like I rely on Steven?
Aww thanks for noticing! And getting it! That is why I am doing a comparison photo in each monthly goal check-in I do but I didn’t really start to see it until May (it doesn’t help that I am fully clothed in the starting photo, ha).
Wow! Useful to have a handy husband. Neither of us is handy, so things just…don’t get done. LOL. You got a good one!
I feel lucky! LOL – do you usually hire someone or buy something new?
So great you have such a handyman for a husband. I am the handy(wo)man in our relationship LOL
You look amazing in this flowery dress. You can definitely see the difference to last year! Way to go!
I feel so lucky and grateful! I bet your husband does for you too!
Aww, thanks so much San.
Kim, what a wonderful post. Remembering to be thankful is something I am terrible at. Griping, I’m great. Thankfulness…is something I need to focus on. I love your list – you look wonderful in every picture, thanks to your smile, but I can tell that your investment in your health is paying off. <3
Aww, thank you so much! And I recommend making a list when you are feeling a bit meh – it could help!
