- Steven and I have run together a few times since our 5K! We may do another 5K on July 4th.
- Something MONUMENTAL happened Tuesday – two cats were in the cat house at the same time! We’ve never seen this! Tywin was on the left side and Snow Jr was on the right side. (It rained all day Tuesday, and the cat house is heated – I’m glad they’re using it!)
- The broken part for the washer came Tuesday and Steven fixed it that night. Yay!
- My RAGBRAI tags came – one for my bike, and one for my wrist. We sometimes order the official RABBRAI jersey, but we didn’t care for it this year.
- I told Jean how much I loved her entire mental health series (especially “progress is not linear“) and she sent prints of them all to me! What a thoughtful surprise. I’m excited to find the right spot to hang them up around my desk. All these prints will be available on her website tomorrow!
- My friend Helen debuted a new postcard/notecard series on her store, Blossom & Cat, and one of them features Khali! The cards are all adorable so I ordered the entire postcard series, and she put in a bunch of extras (earrings, pins, notecards) for me, saying it was an early birthday gift. I was so excited – I adore all her products and her earrings are my favorite!!!
- Ugh, yesterday when I was posting a reel on the Fake Meats Instagram, I got this weird popup that said the password was compromised because we used it somewhere to help get more likes or follows. We absolutely did NOT do that. I changed the passcode and now our account is temporarily blocked from commenting and liking other posts for a week. It’s so frustrating. Sigh. (And the really weird thing is I just listened to a podcast about what to do if this happens – we took the steps but I’m sure we’ll just be restricted for a week).
- As I post this, I’m taking the 4:55 train to work. I saw another coworker getting on at my stop this am and they’re someone I really like but I … just want to sit in the quiet car on the way to work and home.
- I always think of this as a journal and often forget people read it who don’t comment. I don’t mind AT ALL that people don’t comment, it just reinforces that journal feeling.
- Just for my notes, my INR yesterday was 2.1. Lower than the 2.5-3.0 range, but not low enough to require shots.
I love a good set of random thoughts! I love holiday races. I keep toying with the idea of starting some kind of low mileage running so that I could do a 5k if I wanted to, we’ll see.
There are times when I love running into people and chatting, and other times when I just want to be alone and hope that they don’t notice me. It’s called balance.
My favorite blogging rule is “write like no one’s reading”
Aww, thanks for saying that! Because my head is SO random lately!
Oh fun! I would love to hear about it if you do start training for one!
Yep! Normally I am the former but I was just up so early today and wanted to veg on my phone and then read.
That is a great rule!
I always forget that people read and don’t comment, too! But then a friend of mine sent me a text message about something I had mentioned on my blog and it nearly made my head explode! I assumed she’d stopped reading years ago!
Omg that is so funny! I have TOTALLY been there. “We read your blog and thought about you!” Um, what?! Ha! It’s so nice!
It is SO crazy when I realize people read my blog, especially people I know in real life. It’s even crazier when random people I don’t know comment or send me an email about how they’ve been reading my blog for years – WHAT?!?! I always just assume it’s the same circle of 10ish people who are reading, haha.
YES! THIS! You get it!!!!
So cool Steven stills runs with you. I got Jon and I for the 5k (walk) in July and I am excited that he agreed to do it again (we did it once before the pandemic).
Also, your washer/dryer is gorgeous. We have this old clunky thing. Sigh.
I wonder how many people read my blog and never told me? (Cue all the panic – maybe it’s better that I don’t know).
I am grateful he is and hope he keeps it up. And yay for you two doing the 5K! When is it?
Thanks! I was really excited to pick out the red ones when we bought this house!
Probably lots!

OK, I’m totally with you on avoiding the co-worker. I really disliked it when my prep time for work (AM) or decompression time (PM) were compromised by having to… interact with others. 🙂 I totally get it.
No one reads my blog or knows about it – well, that I know of – so I don’t tend to worry about these things. 😉
Right! I felt bad cause I like her but, yep, decompression time!
Or so you think! LOL
