A few highlights from the weekend! This weekend started out really busy so I’m going to break it up in to two posts.
Thursday
- Celebrating Bobbi’s birthday two days early!
- We had dinner at Hacienda Taproom & Kitchen in Milwaukee and our food was absolutely delicious! Gah. I can’t even describe how good it was. We started with chips and salsa, then I got the smoked cabbage steak and she got a torta with sweet potato fries. Everything was perfect.
- We went to a fun book event at Sip & Purr. John M. Sweeney read a chapter from his book Sit in the Sun: And Other Lessons in the Spiritual Wisdom of Cats, and did some audience interaction, and Q&A. When I signed up for the event I had no idea what the book was about other than a cat book – I just wanted to hang out with Bobbi! Ha! But our entry came with a signed copy of the book and I’m looking forward to reading it now that we’ve met the author and I have more of a sense of who he is (and his family – they were there too!).
- We got to hold three week old kittens that the Sip & Purr owner, Katy, had just picked up from a rescue. What a wonderful surprise that was!
- Since Milwaukee is about 45 mins away, Bobbi and I had lots of time to chat. I feel grateful we’ve been able to spend so much time together lately.
- Katy had a gift for me from a cat rescuer/rock painter in Lebanon, Hana, that she visited last month. Hana follows me on Instagram, and wrote me the sweetest card and sent me a rock she had painted based off of a tutorial I did. So incredibly kind!
Friday
Phew. Deep breath. Friday was a bit on the nutso side with appointments and time in the car.
- Getting a run in before my busy day. It felt so nice to be running in the sun, wearing shorts and a shirt.
- Listening to so many podcast episodes during the day (one during my run, another as I drove to my bloodwork appointment, one on the way to the city, one on the way back from the city).
- Getting my bloodwork done. I’m curious to see if my results are in range now! I should hear next week and by Friday at the latest.
- Teaching my first rock painting class to the veterans at Thresholds. They seemed to enjoy it. It was a lively, engaged group.
- Getting a reel filmed at Fake Meats. Although by the time I got there (after teaching a 3 hour class and several hours in the car, I was so spent). I’m glad I could still get something productive done even though I felt fried.
- Picking out some new running tank tops to use my Kohl’s cash on.
- Seeing Lorena for a fun new manicure. It was nice to catch up, although, again, I was so spent. But I love how the mani turned out and always love my time with her.
- Picking up El Famous for dinner. So good.
- Finally getting home and relaxing! I was gone 11 hours, eek. We watched part of Burnt and I worked on this blog post.
Lowlights
- How stupid busy my Friday was. When I said I could teach a rock painting class that day I had forgotten I had bloodwork in the morning. Luckily, it was on the way. Then I moved my Thursday nail appointment to Friday so I could go to the Sip & Purr event Thursday. Friday was just a bit too busy, but all good stuff. Hopefully the rest of the weekend is a bit more chill!
- Someone (Apollo?) knocking a planter over right before bed Friday night. I was so tired and just wanted to go to bed and did NOT want to clean that up. Sigh. Wah wah wah.
Three-week-old kittens! That’s too much in the best way. We got to see Lucy when she was just 2 days old and OMG it was so precious. They are so tiny and can barely keep their eyes open at that age!
Oh Apollo. Always keeping you on your toes!
All of your visits to Sip & Purr reminds me that it has been way too long since I’ve been to a cat cafe!
It was such a wonderful surprise! I love that you got to meet Lucy when she was so young. How old was Chip when you met him?
OMG Apollo sure does. Stay tuned for more in tomorrow’s post. Ha.
Yes! Please go!
Aww, kittens. Your Friday sounds insane, though. I do that to myself all the time. Sigh. And then I wonder, why am I so exhausted. Duh. 🙂
Right! I think I will get all the stuff done on one day and relax the others but it never works out like that!
