I have so many random thoughts for this post, I’m going to do a part I today, and a part II tomorrow.
- About once a month my work team does an in-person staff meeting and we usually do a happy hour after work. I LOVE these days in the office with so many people. It’s such a joy to see everyone in person and catch up! We did that yesterday, and there were a lot of other people in the office too. It makes me wonder if I should change my in office day to Wednesday. It puts me in a good mood to see everyone and chat.
- So many people complimented me on my outfit yesterday. It made me feel really good!
- When I got to work yesterday, one of my coworkers had picked up a vegan donut for me. I thought that was so thoughtful (and wow, that donut was delicious – it was perfectly moist)!
- Okay, annoying work thing – I’ve had an 8:00 am call three days this week, and an 8:30 on the day I didn’t have an 8:00 am. Ugh. And I need to call into meetings tomorrow on my day off.
- Jen and I saw AIR on Monday night for an early birthday celebration for her, and we both really enjoyed it. I don’t know much about basketball (or care) but I loved the 80s nostalgia, great acting and script, and business themes of the movie. I definitely want to see it again when it’s streaming. Steven loves business-focused movies and I think he’ll really enjoy it too.
- I love that I got to take Jen out for an early birthday celebration (happy birthday, Jen!). And we are doing a late birthday dinner for her this weekend.
- Tiff and Val booked travel last week to come to Guttenberg, Iowa this summer (in July) and I am so excited to share our favorite summer place with them. And Tiff is bringing her oldest son, too. We’re going to have a great time!
Vegan food at the movie concessions! What a time to be alive!
That stinks about all the early meetings! Is it a time zone thing (like are they scheduled by people in ET?) or are people just rude? I get pulled into a fair amount of 5pm calls by my colleagues in CT, which I don’t love, but I do block my calendar from 8-9 every day for my gym class so I guess that’s my trade-off. Could you block your calendar in the morning?
My team used to coordinate our office days so we’d all be there at the same time. We can all do our jobs effectively from home so there’s really no reason to go in other than to have that time with each other! (IMO at least)
Two were time zone-related (understandable) and the other two are just rude. Ha. Every Thursday I have a call with CT folks at 8:00 or 7:30 and hate starting my Thursdays that way. I would HATE 5:00 pm calls! (I end most work days at 4:00 pm). I could block my calendar but generally don’t need to – this week is just bad timing for so many in a row!
Right! I go in solely for socializing. Every once in a while I need to meet with a client, but it’s only happened once in the last year.
This morning I accidentally cleared a notification off my phone without realizing that it was a reminder for my 8:00 meeting. I only remembered it at 7:59. Thank goodness it wasn’t a workout day or I would have been fresh out of the shower with wet hair. 8:00 meetings should be banned.
OMG! I am glad you remembered! I had to join a 7:30 a few weeks ago that way because I had forgotten about it! I was still in my workout gear and sweaty LOL.
And yes they should be!
Mustard is the color of the season! All the middle school girls and teachers are wearing it. You are clearly on trend!
Aww! Thank you!!!! Do you have anything in that color?
Your lewk is so colorful and spring-y! I love it and I can see why you got so many compliments.
You should change your in-office day to Wednesday if that’s when most people will be there! Socialization is just about the only reason I go into the office these days. (It’s also the days I will get zero work done, so there’s that, ha.)
8am meetings should be banned! I try to be very conscious about time zones and try to schedule most meetings between 11am-4pm EST. A few of my direct reports are on Pacific time, which makes things more difficult at times!
Aww, thanks so much!
Same same same, esp re: amount of work done! Ha! I think I am going to try going in every other Wednesday and see how I like it!
Oh gosh, I bet the PST people have so many 8 am meetings. I know some of my PST coworkers have 6:30 am meetings. I could NOT. Ha.
I concur – change the in-office day, if seeing people fills you up so much!
I … am one of the early morning meeting schedulers. In my defense, other people try to schedule late-day meetings, and I try (if I can, and I care) to make those. Try. 😉
LOL! We need to get rid of early and late meetings! And no lunch meetings! That leaves 9-12 and 1-3:30. Ha!
