I did my first run of the year on Wednesday and it felt so good! Yay!
I took time off running because I was no longer enjoying it. I wasn’t taking care of my body and my runs felt horrible! I’ve been focusing more on my health this year and am so excited to get back to running!
My run on Wednesday felt great because:
- It was around 50°F
- The sun was out
- The trail was soft
- I did a 15 x 1:00 workout (run a min/walk a min, 15 times)
- I didn’t get too cold during my intervals because it was warm out
Steven and I are talking about doing a 5K together in June and like I said, I AM EXCITED! Yay!
Maybe Troy and I could do the 5k with you!!
That would be awesome! We should talk about it!
Oh, gosh, I didn’t realize you were a fellow Wisconsin blogger. I should have gone for a run on Wednesday, but I decided that I wanted there to be a lot less mud on the sidewalks before I gave it a go. Good on you for getting out there!
I am super close to the WI border in IL! Ha, isn’t this part of the year so funny? We get excited to get out then the trails are soft and muddy. Ha. I hope you get out soon! And thanks!
I stopped running last year for exactly the same reasons – I wasn’t enjoying it, it wasn’t feeling good, and overall it didn’t feel healthy anymore. The only running that I do right now is a very short sprinting workout a few times a week. But I think that once the weather gets nicer maybe I’ll want to trade in the treadmill for outside cardio, so maybe I’ll get some runs in here and there.
I am glad you listened to your body and stopped too! Working out should be somewhat fun… right? And I do hope you have nice weather if you get back outside!!!
Woohoo! I am so excited for you that you’re back to running!
Thank you! Me too! My husband ran with me yesterday!
This is so exciting, Kim! I’m glad you were able to have a nice run after some time away. I’m also glad that you took the time off when it wasn’t making you feel good! That’s an important distinction to make. Good for you!
Thank you Stephany!!! I was proud of me for doing that and not just pushing through and becoming more miserable (which is what I had been doing, ha)!
Oh, yay. The best part is you enjoyed yourself! And yes, March weather in this area is so darn WEIRD. Today it’s 20, Tuesday it’s supposed to be 50? I can’t keep up…
I can’t either! I know it’s never consistent but it’s frustrating when it’s so cold the days I want to spend time outside! (Says, everyone)
