A few highlights from the long weekend! This is part 2 of 3 or 4 parts.
Friday
- Waking up at 5:00 am… I actually got a lot done on my computer and phone before I got out of my room!
- Going to 5 Points for breakfast. I got the “Breakfast Salad,” which had a salad, vegan chorizo, poblano peppers, and squash. Delish! And I got a chai, which had a pretty heart on it. I also bought a vegan cookie after breakfast.
- Eating breakfast outside! It wasn’t super warm, but it was warm enough, and so nice to eat in the sun.
- How blue the sky was all day. (I put sunscreen on A LOT!)
- Driving through downtown and seeing a beautiful stage to stop at and check out.
- Getting postcards and gifts at the visitor center at Saguaro National Park (East).
- The hilly scenic drive in the park. I wasn’t expecting it to be so up and down! It was not up and down by a ton of feet, but they were steep ups and downs!
- Getting out and hiking 4 miles in the desert! It was so quiet and peaceful! We had a wonderful time chatting and enjoying the quiet. The hike put me in an even better mood and made me feel so fulfilled.
- Seeing some rock formations on the way out of the park.
- Randomly driving by the airplane boneyard. What a cool thing to see!
- The car reading a text message exchange between Steven, Jen, and Troy and it sounding absolutely adorable.
- Coming up with inspirational sayings to put on rocks together.
- Checking out the Presidio Historic District. I got another iced chai, we went through a bunch of artist shops that were all connected, checked out the gift shop at the art museum, and went to the historic Pima County Courthouse. They had a room where John Dillinger was arraigned! How random and cool to see!
- Ordering vegan donuts for Saturday at Donut Bar.
- Going to the correct food truck – Substance Diner and the brewery next to it (where we could take our food in) – Moto Sonora. We ate outside AGAIN and I marveled at how amazing that was and Tiff laughed at me since that is pretty normal in LA! Our food was delish – they got burgers, which I normally would have, but I really wanted to try the Sonoran hot dog that is dish that originated in Mexico and is popular in Tucson and other Arizona cities! Here is what was on it – Vegan hot dog with organic tomato, pinto beans, pickled onions, vegenaise, mustard, tamari-tofu bacun-bits, organic bun. We also got fried pickles and fries and they both let me have bites of their burgers since I love them.
- Not overeating at dinner.
- Seeing a beautiful sunset on the way to the Airbnb.
- Sitting at the table and painting/catching up with social media. This is one of the main reasons we book an Airbnb – so we have a big area to sit and paint together!
- The new Fast X trailer coming out!
- Talking to Steven about his day and telling him what a great time I’m having.
Lowlights
- Not getting a lot of sleep Friday night. I went to bed after midnight and tossed and turned and was up at 4:00. Eek. I think I was just too excited about what a fun day I had! And… I had two chais. Ha.
What a busy, fun day. Getting up at 5am and then going, going, going throughout the day. No wonder you had two chais! I would have needed a nap, haha, especially after being in the sun all day.
Eating outside in February must have felt like such a treat for you!
Right! I totally crashed the next day and felt tired and out of it! But it was a great day!
It totally is!!!!! It’s rarely nice enough to do it here!
