A few highlights from the weekend!
I had Thursday and Friday off for health stuff for us, and the two days wore me out so bad I wanted to do NOTHING this weekend (except see our friends for a previously planned lunch date).
Thursday
- Sleeping in until 7:00. I took the entire day off to assist (by driving) with Steven’s “Lasik” (he actually got PRK – it uses lasers to reshape the cornea but doesn’t create a flap in it like Lasik does ) so I got to sleep in a bit!
- IT emailing a hack to get my new work phone to work right before the call I needed it to work for. I was so relieved they did because I could not get my workaround that I tested at home to work.
- Chatting with some folks in the lobby while we waited. (We got there at 10:00 and were there until 2:00)
- The doctor’s office being right next to Red Robin and Lush – the two places I wanted to go to after the appointment (lunch for us, and Lush for gifts).
- Getting more holiday packages out the door. They’re almost all sent! I realized the reason they’re stressing me out so much is because I am always wanting to have zero things on my plate, which is impossible.
- Getting a giftcard for our veterinarian.
- Painting and listening to a podcast and finishing a commission I was really struggling with. I was so relieved to finally get it right. It was making me question my painting abilities and hate painting. (While I was doing this and the last two bullets Steven was napping – they gave him Tylenol PM and said to come home and nap for 3-4 hours. When he got up one eye was bothering him and we both hoped it would be better in the morning.)
- Getting Chinese takeout for dinner. Although, I sad NO mushrooms in the lo mein and I think they put extra mushrooms in.
Friday
- Steven getting help for his eye first thing in the morning. When Steven got up Friday his eye was NOT better. He was in so much pain – whenever he opened it it felt like he was being poked in multiple spots. We called the doctor and he said to come in right away (instead of at 2:00 pm when his follow-up appointment was), that it was likely the contact came off (it had). We rushed there (an hour away) in the sleet/snow (so fun) and they immediately took him in and numbed it and put a contact in and it felt a lot better. Phew.
- Seeing the folks we met in the lobby the day before again, and giving them some painted rocks.
- Steven’s appointment being moved to the morning opening up our afternoon. The afternoon was going to be rough with my appointments and vet appointments for the cats and it never would have worked out anyway because my stuff took so long.
- Going to Starbucks and helping Steven with work (he needed help because of his poor eyesight after surgery). It gave me a new appreciation for how much he does, as a small busines owner! And it felt good to be helpful.
- Getting my ultrasound and an update on my clots. You can read all about that adventure here if you want. The short version is they found a third clot they did not know about and told me to take blood thinner shots along with pills until today when I get some bloodwork back and see what to do next.
- Our cat sitter coming by the house and giving Khali the Gabapentin for her vet appointment. I am so glad she could fit this in her schedule. I originally thought I would be home to do it, but, no.
- Taking Khali and Ned to the vet (normal checkup for Khali, follow-up shot for Ned) and chatting with our vet.
- Picking up my prescription and thanking the pharmacist who helped me fill my Warfarin in person, and getting some tips on how to take the shots.
- Finally sitting on the couch.
- Apollo playing with Snow Jr. It was so cute! Snow Jr came up to the glass sliding door and Apollo was pawing at him and Snow Jr was pawing back.
- Steven successfully giving me my first shot. I am so so thankful he is doing that for me.
Saturday
- Having a chill morning. I wrapped a few gifts, we had breakfast sandwiches, and watched some funny YouTube skits.
- Receiving a handmade postcard from an Instagram friend and a holiday card for the cats from their cousin Dexter.
- Receiving a present in the mail from Shelley!
- A walk with Steven.
- Helping Steven get stuff done around the yard. I should help him anyway, but mostly was because of his eyesight issues, ha ha. I think they said he’d see better in 7-10 days.
- Using a Lush bathbomb.
- A chill night watching The Holiday and part of Die Hard.
Sunday
- Getting up at 6:30 then going back to bed from 8:30-10:00.
- A walk with Steven.
- Lunch out with Jen and Troy. It was so nice to sit and chat!
- Another chill night.
Lowlights
- No sun. Sigh. I need it to resin more efficiently/effectively and to take photos. I tried to resin using my lamp on Sunday and it was a nightmare so I saved it for today and the forecast changed and we won’t have sun until Saturday. Wah wah wah.
- HuHot being temporarily closed. We had planned to go there Sunday and had to pick a new place. The new place was super mediocre but the company was great.
Wow, what a lot of health stuff you guys have had to juggle! Hope Steven’s eye is feeling better by now. Hang in there!
It is, thanks!
Man, I keep hearing about people getting Lasik. It feels like EVERYONE is getting it now, or maybe that’s just recency bias, haha. I really want to see if it’s something I could do in 2023! It would be amazing not to have to wear glasses anymore, especially because contacts don’t really work for me with my astigmatism. Hope the recovery hasn’t been too crazy for Steven!
I love that Dexter sent his cousins a holiday card. That’s way too cute! Maybe I should just send out holiday cards from the girls next year, hahaha.
Oh funny!!! Maybe everyone is! Steven had an astigmatism in each eye which is why they went with PRK for him! I am excited for him not to have to deal with contacts or glasses anymore (he might have to use readers – we shall see). Recovery has been MUCH better after last Friday, thank you!
OMG YES I AM HERE FOR A CARD FROM ELLY & LILA PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
