A few highlights from the weekend! We were in Iowa this weekend to celebrate Halloween with my family and take our big family photo for the holiday card.
Friday
- An easy drive.
- Lunch at Burger King. I know it seems odd but I am still so grateful they have a vegan burger and fries on the menu. One of our nephews has been getting in to eating fake meats and likes the Impossible Whopper too!
- Arriving and seeing everyone.
- Leo noticing my Halloween nails and commenting on them right away and asking to see them all.
- Doing coloring pages with the kids then going to the park. The weather was beautiful this weekend – great for being outside.
- Having dinner together and sharing an inside joke of snis’s and mine from California that the family then teased me about all weekend. Ha!
- Watching the beginning and end of Top Gun: Maverick in the home theater. We had rented in the week before but you just need to big screen and surround sound for that magical experience.
Saturday
- Leo being really excited about my pumpkin shirt.Β The kids just do so many cute things; I could make a whole post just from this weekend. Here is another thing, in reel form.
- Getting chais and donuts with Snis and Ella.
- All the family coming over for chili and seeing everyone.
- Being rowdy with our nephews in the playroom.
- Going on a walk downtown and hiding rocks.
- Trick-or-treating. This is special – my snis lives in the neighborhood my Grandma used to, which is where we trick-or-treated as kids, so it was cool to be back together – all four of siblings, most of their kids, and our parents and significant others. Steven and Will handed out candy (and had some really funny interactions) and the rest of us trick-or-treated.
- Ordering Papa John’s breadsticks. WHY AND HOW ARE THEY SO GOOD.
Sunday
- A walk with Dad. We walked 3.5 miles and hid more rocks. I always am grateful for our one-on-one time.
- Taking the family photo. I got to go up in the boom truck! We used my iPhone and tripod from that height. (My snis is getting an iPhone soon! Yay!)
- Lunch after with most of the family.
- An easy drive home.
- Christina sending some footage to me that I didn’t make time to take while I was there (for this reel and this reel).
- Seeing the kitties when we got home. And trying to go to bed as early as possible because we were TIRED.
So much family time. I love it π
It was fab!
I love that you guys all got together this weekend for Halloween and the family picture. That’s really special. Also, the memory of trick-or-treating as an adult in the same place you trick-or-treated when you were a kid… <3 <3 <3 So sweet. What a full circle moment!
I miss nephews being cute. π I guess I have one that still does cute things but man, when they turn into teenagers, things get very angsty!
I hope we can make this a regular thing! We used to get together this time of year each year but it kind of faded out for a few years. It was fun to go back.
Omg yeah I know what you mean. It’s a wild ride. Ha!
