A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Taking a half day so I had time to run after lunch.
- Prepping for my Saturday painting class at Sip & Purr. I prepped over 400 paint pens and had to get a lot of other things together. I get more and more efficient each time I teach (this was my 3rd time) but could still do better.
- Homemade deep dish pizza. Steven found a video about how Lou Malnati’s makes theirs and tried that. Yum! We also watched most of Bullet Train which was amusing.
Saturday
- Painting a rock of a special cat at Sip & Purr to take there. (Lowlight – that it took the entire morning! I kept messing up the face and taking it all off with rubbing alcohol then starting over. It still didn’t look that good when it was finished.)
- Using the cart my parents got me for my birthday to haul all my stuff to class. The last two times I’ve taught I’ve been able to get a parking spot right by the entrance but this time I had to park a few streets away and the cart was so handy!
- Teaching my rock painting class at Sip & Purr. We painted spooky cat butts. Most of the students seemed to really enjoy it, which made me feel good. Some didn’t, which made me feel bad. Either way, I donated all my time and supplies so all the money goes straight to the cat cafe!
- Donating 75 painted rocks from me and 7 of my friends.
- Chilling at home and watching Top Gun: Maverick.
Sunday
- Waking up and going back to bed (around 9:00) and sleeping in until 11:00! Whoa! That is late! Our bodies were still tired from the previous weekend.
- Getting a photo of all 4 cats for the holiday card. It’s not great, but it’ll do!
- A walk and picnic after with Steven.
- Getting Frappuccinos after our walk (thanks, snis!).
- Ordering our holiday card from Shitterfly. Although it was a freaking huge pain in the butt and took FOREVER. And made me pissy.
- Watching the finale of House of the Dragon. It’s our first time watching the show “live”! We were always delayed by a day or two. Also, meh.
Lowlights
- Being in my head about whether or not the students enjoyed my class. I don’t have to be for everyone! That is just the Enneagram 2 in me.
- Wasting so much of Sunday on our holiday card.
I second your “meh”
Ha!
Aww, I think the picture of the cats on the stairs came out really cute!
I’m sorry that you had a few participants who weren’t enthused at the Sip & Purr event. I worry that I would be one of those people, which would have NOTHING AT ALL to do with you, and more to do with me and my competitive nature. I’m terrible about anything artsy and I would get so in my head about my drawing not being as good as other people’s. Maybe that’s what was happening with those people? I’m sorry, though! I know you’re a wonderful teacher and yes, your Enneagram 2 nature means you just want everyone to leave in happy spirits.
Thank you Stephany!
And thanks so much for sharing your perspective on what you might be feeling if you were there because it’s giving me a bigger picture and reminding me that it probably had NOTHING to do with me (it could be competitiveness, it could be second guessing their skills, they could be having a bad day, and so much more…). That really helps! And thanks for the kind words about me as a teacher!
Wow, you put SO much of yourself into these teaching sessions! And I’m with Stephany – I would be the same way, wanting to be good at it and probably being the worst artist in the class! 🙂
Ah, photocards. So. Much. Fun. Good on you for powering through but man, what a chore…
Aww! It’s not a competition! Everyone’s art is valuable!
It was such a pita. Then the box arrived open this week and I had to count them all. Not a great experience with them!
