A few highlights from the weekend! This is part II of our weekend in Eureka Springs, Arkansas with our friends Courtney and David.

Sunday

  • Seeing the downtown area. We went back late Sunday morning and it was much less crowded and we were able to find parking. The downtown has a lot of shops in older historic buildings. Because of the terrain there are several levels of buildings and stairways between them. We enjoyed walking around, seeing the older buildings, stopping at a few shops (I found some holiday gifts – now is the time of year to start saving gifts for the holidays), and getting lunch at a Mexican Restaurant.
  • Seeing the working bunnies (reel here)! One shop has “working bunnies,” which are rescue bunnies that have been trained to hand you your change and whatever you purchased. Of course I had to purchase something so I could experience this. I am always shocked by how soft bunnies are.
  • Hiding rocks downtown (reel here). Courtney and David were super in to it, which was a lot of fun! They asked me a lot of questions about hiding them, painting them (David seemed super impressed with the cat butts I painted the night before, ha), making reels, and my ambassadorship with Tool-Art. It’s nice when people ask questions and care! I am usually the question-asker so I really appreciate it.
  • Nice weather. It was warm enough out on Saturday and Sunday to wear shorts. That season is fazing out of Illinois so it was nice to experience (although it was 40° when we woke up Monday morning).
  • Stopping at Christ of the Ozarks and the petting zoo there. It was neat to see the large Christ statue, where the passion play is, and to feed the animals at the petting zoo. We were very excited there were cats at the petting zoo. I was more excited to see them than the other animals. Ha.
  • Hanging out at the house before we went back downtown for a walking ghost tour. My manicure had come off that day downtown (it was lifting for a few days before I left and I kept gluing them down but they wouldn’t hold forever after layers and layers of glue) but I brought a package of Dashing Diva sticker nails with me and there were enough for me and Courtney to use them. And we put some on the boys too. Ha.
  • Doing the walking ghost tour. Our tour guide was a lot of fun, and told us at the beginning that he was sick of getting bad reviews for it having too much history… but it was mostly history! Which I enjoyed! I learned a lot about Eureka Springs and how the town grew, and some unique stories about it. It was my first time using a pendulum, which was a bit freaky because it actually seemed to work.
  • Local drunks crashing the walking tour. Oh my gosh. At one point we were standing in front of a bar listening to our tour guide and one tamer local drunk came out and said something about how big the group was then stumbled off. That was funny, but THEN, a couple came out of the bar and started hanging on each other and groping each other. Then the woman came over and tried to take over the tour by telling a drunken repetitive story with a bunch of f-bombs in it (and there were young kids present). It made me laugh but I did wonder how they were getting home.
  • Sneaking in to a cave that the tour guide told us a ghost story about. He encouraged us to sneak in after the tour, so a lot of us did.
  • Making nachos when we got back to the house. The boys acted disinterested when we brought up the nacho idea before the tour, but they both came around by the time we got back. We had them around 10:30. Ha! We used Beyond Burger meat on it, and Courtney and David liked it!
  • Staying up late talking. We finally went to bed since we had to drive home the next day.

Monday

  • Hanging out for a few hours before we had to go. We should have left earlier, but we were enjoying each other’s company.
  • No weird traffic on the way home. It was a pretty straight shot, no missed turns or anything. On the way there I only drove about 2.5 hours of it, but I drove 5 hours (in two shifts) on the way back.
  • Seeing the cats when we got home!
