- I got to see Lorena yesterday! I hadn’t in about a month because she went on a trip to see her family. It was fun to hear about that, and of course, I had to catch her up on all my drama. I went with fall nails even though the start of fall is two weeks away.
- I logged into the test results on my medical app to see what it said about my blood clots and see if there were any pictures from the ultrasound (nope). While I was there I also opened the results from the August 17th x-ray and noticed it said “Plantar calcaneal spur is noted.” Ha. Were they going to tell me about that?
- I have an “urgent referral” with a vascular doctor and called them first thing Tuesday morning but apparently urgent means I have to wait 24-48 hours for them to call me back to set up an appointment. I’m feeling a bit anxious – I am supposed to fly for work on Monday and want to ask if I should cancel that. (It’s a little over an hour flight and work is 100% fine with me canceling – it’s just that I wanted to go!) I do have a follow-up with my regular doctor on September 16th, so that’s something. I just want to know what I should be doing and what the action plan is. I do know I can never take meds with estrogen in them again. They let me know that right away.

It’s never too early for fall anything, IMO.
Could you try to contact your primary doctor to ask about flying? I’m sure each case is different, but one of my parents’ friends just flew with a blood clot last week, and it was a longer flight than an hour, so you might be okay to still travel. I think she just wore compression stockings and got up to move around every hour and was fine.
Yessssssssssssssss!
I did last week and she was like, “it should be fine but maybe avoid if you can,” so I was trying to get a hold of the specialist. I called them again today. Sigh. I may ask my primary again tomorrow. I was thinking I would be okay, like your parents’ friend but wanted to be safe!
Oh my, sounds like you had a few medical things going on. I am so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you’re in good hands though – did you get an answer regarding the flying?
Thanks! I am! And I did not yet. Still waiting to hear back from the specialist. I think they are sick of me calling.
Ooh, the flying thing is such a hard decision to make! I hope you were able to get an answer from your specialist.
Bring on the fall!!!!
I was! He said no flying for 4 weeks since the blood clot appeared. I loved how he said it like “It’s common knowledge not to fly for 4 weeks after a blood clot.” LOL. Common for people in your profession?!
I am so ready!
Oh, how I wish I’d seen this in the moment – I would have urged you to call the specialist’s office and tell them you had a time-sensitive clinical question related to a potential risk-inducing activity, and ask to speak to a nurse. Sigh. I’m also … flabbergasted-but-not-really at the response when you finally got him. Trust me, it is NOT common knowledge not to fly for four weeks after a blood clot. Where the heck is this guy from? (Clearly, not the real world!)
Hope things are on the upswing for you now that you have a diagnosis…
I am so put off from calling this particular office because I have no direct number. At least I do for the place I go now, and those pepole rae hella responsive and nice.
LOL, right? Everyone I have told that story to says that is NOT common knowledge.
And they are! I am getting the treatment I need!
