A few highlights from the weekend of July 29-31 and notes (below) on August 6-8!
July 29-31 was my RAGBRAI/birthday weekend!
Thursday
- Getting off work and knowing I had the next day and whole week off. Woo hoo!
Friday
- Remembering to pack my bike. I’m always convinced I’m going to forget to bring my bike for RAGBRAI weekend (thankfully I never have).
- Randomly buying a lottery ticket when we stopped to use the bathroom at a gas station. Ha. We had never filled out one before so that took a minute to figure out.
- A decent enough drive. With some minor stupid construction in detours.
- Being with family.
- Going to Paper Moon (a gift ship) with my snis and Ella. I wanted to get birthday presents for a few Leos and found quite a few things!
- Taco bar for dinner. My snis planned out all the meals and got all the groceries for the entire weekend. She is amazing!
- Nailing down our RAGBRAI transportation plan.
Saturday
- Riding RAGBRAI with Dad.
- Taking a shower and chilling at our rental after.
- Burgers for dinner at Christina’s.
- Hanging a bit then calling it a night. I had four hours of sleep the night before and was so tired!
Sunday
- A beautiful sunrise.
- French toast for breakfast.
- Our nephews helping me open my birthday presents.
- Being at the beach for several hours. It’s where I always want to be for my birthday! Ha, I tried to paint on the beach and my pens did NOT like the heat from the sun!
- Pasta for dinner and fruit pizza and cake for dessert.
- A golf cart ride around the community.
Monday
- Hiding rocks on a golf cart ride with the family.
- Getting home at a decent hour and arriving to so many packages – some for my birthday, but most for Sip & Purr donations.
Lowlights
- Not winning the Mega Millions. Ha.
- Being sick Tuesday-Sunday following this weekend. Kind of ruined the week I took off work. I mostly slept. I didn’t read or scroll much. Oh! I did finish the new Blake Crouch book, Upgrade, which was disappointing.
- The only highlights from this past weekend were my friend’s kid bringing us El Famous (none of the food delivery services deliver from there) and Shitterfly having the $1 magnet deal. And I got a few rocks painted. This week will be better.
Hi Kim! Just wanted to stop by and wish you a very happy belated birthday – it sounds like you spent it in your happy place! And that fruit pizza looks amazing! It is so cool you are still doing Ragbrai with your dad. Hope you’re feeling better this week.
Hugs,
Amy
Thanks so much Amy! It is my happy space! And I am feeling better this week, yay!
Ughhh, I am so sorry that you spent your entire week off sick! That sucks, and it’s no way to spend a fun staycation. I’m glad you’re on the mend.
It looks like you had a wonderful birthday, though, and that’s great to see!
Thanks! It’s like the same thing that happened to you when you got back from your holiday!
I definitely did!
