A few highlights from the weekend! My parents visited this weekend, yay!
Friday
- Posting my Reels 1 year giveaway.
- A new mani. I don’t like it as much as the watermelon, mani, but I still like it!
- Mom and Dad arriving.
- El Famous for lunch.
- Doing a warehouse tour. The last time Mom and Dad saw Steven’s warehouse was right after he bought it last June. Quite a bit has changed since then! He has an entire production room now for packaging his Plant Basics brand.
- Receiving a birthday present in the mail from a friend in Japan, and receiving an order from an artist friend.
- The cats being social and outgoing. They did so well this weekend! Khali didn’t hide at all! Surprisingly (or maybe not?), Starbuck wanted the most attention. I was really excited for Mom and Dad to meet Ned for the first time.
- Hanging out at the house and doing the house tour. We had to show Mom and Dad the changes to the inside and outside of the house, and I showed off my friends’ art on my art wall.
- Burgers for dinner. Yum. Khali got quite a few pieces from Dad (and Mom).
- Hanging out after dinner and taking Enneagram tests. I now know my parent’s numbers!
- Re-painting my friend’s dog rock. In December of 2020 my snis commissioned me to paint her friend’s dog and it was when I first started painting and it’s just… very beginner. Mom had picked up that rock for me to resin, and I was going to try to fix it, but I decided to just paint her a new one as a surprise!
Saturday
- A walk with Dad. We walked at the preserve by our house and hid a few rocks.
- Seeing the new Thor movie, even though I didn’t think it was that good. It’s still fun to go to the movies.
- Making a big charcuterie board for lunch, and hanging out a bit. Unfortunately I had a headache most of the day and was in a mood and not being a great host. Ugh. I blame the weather! And being up late the night before.
- Getting chais with Mom and picking out olive oil to try for bread dipping with dinner. She made a fresh loaf of bread and we tried two EVOOs for dipping. One is actually our neighbor’s brand! (like, legit, the person who lives across the street from us – Steven saw him Sunday and told him we bought and liked his olive oil, ha ha).
- Lasagna (and that fresh bread) for dinner. So good.
- Getting to bed earlier, ha.
Sunday
- A bike ride with Dad, and Dad finding the metal shard stuck in my back tire.
- Showing my parents how I resin.
- Having leftovers and hanging out and playing a game before we left for the concert.
- The concert! Rachel, Dad, and I saw Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Poison, Def Leppard, and Mötley Crüe at Miller Park in Milwaukee. I had a ton of bullets here about the concert but removed them so it’ll get its own post. We had a great time! (and that is why my parents were visiting – for the concert)
- While we were at the concert Steven and Mom made salsa, got new houseplants, ordered pizza, and watched a movie (Mom had never seen Mean Girls, can you believe it?).
Monday
- A short bike ride with Dad. Gosh, we were so tired in the morning!!!! But we wanted to test out my bike tire. Okay, I wanted to test it out, ha.
- Mom making banana bread. Yum yum.
- Feeding our new black cat friend. A black cat has been visiting us and we put food out for him. He visited a lot this weekend!
- Filming Meet the Maker with Mom (she interviewed me). I think it turned out really cute! My parents helped me make a bunch of reels this weekend, which I appreciate. (here is another!)
- A picnic at the beach! We picked up Burger King and walked to the beach and enjoyed being in water and relaxing! And searching for rocks!
- Receiving a birthday card in the mail.
- Receiving a drawing of Ned that a friend did in the mail.
- Pasta for dinner.
- Catching up on things on my computer and Instagram before and after dinner. I was offline most of the weekend and it felt good to be offline, then good to catch up.
- Going to bed early. Ha!
I’m so glad you had a lovely weekend with your parents! Bread + EVOO is my perfect meal, I think. A FRESH loaf of bread would be amazing, too!
I love the pic of your dad with the cats. Look at lil Khali being all friendly! How did Ned do with the new visitors?
Thank you! It was so good! I definitely recommend his EVOO if they sell if there – the brand is Lonely Olive Tree Organics.
I am so proud of Khali! Ned did well! He wasn’t as cuddly as I was hoping he’d be, but he liked hanging out!
