Notes:

  • Monday morning was beautiful for a summer run. I am so glad I got out for it!
  • I felt so tired when I got up Saturday that I thought my long ride would be crap but I ended up feeling great, probably because it was so cool out! It was not uneventful though!
    • When I stopped for a break and to sit in the shade and eat my CLIF bar I started talking with some folks and it turns out we know a lot of the same people. So I had a lot of fun chatting (gossiping!) but it took a long time! Ha. Good practice for RAGBRAI stops.
    • Right after I left them to finish my last ten miles I drifted around a corner and almost fell off my bike! Something immediately felt wrong so I got off my bike and saw that my bike tire was really low on air. Now that I think about it… is that why I skidded the corner… or is that what caused it to be low?
    • At first I tried to use a CO2 cartridge to fill it and just proceeded to freeze my thumb. So then I decided to change my tube but only got it filled up enough to get it in the wheel and back onto the bike. It was not enough air to ride on. Bobbi to the rescue! I called her and told her my issues and that I’d either need a ride home or air and she brought me a pump and saved the day and I was able to finish my ride! I am so glad she could help me out! (I called Steven, but he was using the air nail gun and never heard his phone ring).
    • I went to the bike shop that afternoon to get a new tube and hand pump. I should have dropped my bike off then for its tune-up! But I thought I would ride on the 4th. But when I went by my bike on Sunday I saw the tire was flat again. I must not have put the tube in right! I am glad I got home just fine.
    • Riding is making my neck so sore. Ugh.
    • I almost forgot to add! I almost didn’t bring my repair kit with me because the velcro on it is rubbing a hole in my bike shorts. I wore brand new shorts Saturday and wore a hole right in them. Anyway. I am glad I had it!
  • I did not want to get out of bed and run Sunday, but I am glad I did, and could fit it in before a day of yardwork!
  • Monthly recap! In June I ran 82.1 miles (15 runs). My coldest run was 55°F and my warmest was 77°F. I walked 6 times, biked 4 times, and did 1 strength workout.
