FINALLY! Rachel and I bought tickets for the Mötley Crüe & Def Leppard Stadium Tour in December of 2019, and we finally got to go this Sunday! It was originally going to be in summer of 2020, then got postponed to summer of 2021, then postponed again. I’m so glad we got to go. It was epic!
We saw Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Poison, Def Leppard, and Mötley Crüe at Miller Park in Milwaukee (ha, Steven kept saying he thought were were going to Wrigley in Chicago. I avoid Chicago for things like this if I can!). Rachel and I had an extra ticket so I asked Dad if he wanted to join us, and that’s why my parents were visiting this weekend.
Rachel text me on Friday and let me know that each band was going to do a FULL concert. We had no idea! In my head, each band was going to play 4-5 songs. Ha. I am so glad we knew. The concert started at 4:00 and we were both thinking “Oh, we’ll be home by 9:00!” Um, no.
There was an opener, but we used that time to get concessions. Funny story – it was so hot that sweat was dripping down my arms and legs and I had a wet spot on my shorts! A concession worker was so concerned for me they left the concessions to politely tell me. Ha. I should have worn workout shorts!
Joan Jett was the first band after the opener and she sounded and looked so good! I knew about half her songs and enjoyed the music, despite all the sweating. Here is their setlist.
Each band played for around an hour (some longer) then there was 30 mins between sets. We always got up to use the bathroom and try to cool off. And get more food and drinks. Ha.
Poison was up next and had incredible energy! Like, whoa! It really pumped me up! I knew about half their songs too. By the time they played the sun was behind the stadium and it was thankfully getting cooler. Here is their setlist.
Def Leppard looked ancient but I knew the most of their songs and really enjoyed hearing them live. It was getting darker out so we could see the screens better, and there were more special effects. As with all the bands, it was a lot of fun when they played people’s favorite songs and everyone was singing along. Here is their setlist.
Mötley Crüe was the closer and was a lot of fun! They seemed to have even more special effects, and they had dancers, and more stage props. All the band members came out to speak and there was a lot of swearing and some vulgar stuff that made me laugh. Especially Tommy Lee’s speech. I loved when they played “Home Sweet Home” and everyone had their phone lights on. Here is their setlist.
Surprisingly, none of the bands did the fake encore!
The people watching at the concert was amazing. It was great to see so many people dressed up and dancing and having such a great time! It made me happy!
We left our house just after 2:00 and got home at midnight! Wowza! Ha. But everything went really well. Rachel was pulling into parking at the same time as us, which was an amazing coincidence and made meeting up a lot easier. We got out of parking and got home so easily, which made me happy!
It was so great to be at a concert again. Rachel is my go to concert buddy and it was really fun to have Dad there with us too – he said he had a great time! (I’m sure we’re all still recovering though, ha!)
What a fun time! It must have been so cool to see all of those bands in person. And to recognize everything the world has been through since you first bought those tickets!
I’m sorry about the shorts! Stupid sweat.
It was!!!! So neat to be able to see these older bands now. Although, it may have been better when they were current, ha.
OMG yes. I am just so grateful the concert happened!
Thanks! Next time I will stick with my gut and wear the exercise shorts!
