A few highlights from the weekend!
We went to Guttenberg to see Gina, Steve, and Luca. We didn’t have big plans and mostly hung out and caught up!
Sunday
- Arriving in Guttenberg to spend a few days with Gina, Steve, and Luca.
- Hanging out and chatting.
- Checking out the new brewery in town and walking around downtown a bit.
- A yummy homecooked meal (pasta!).
- A walk with Gina after dinner.
- Staying up late chatting.
Monday
- Sleeping until 7:30! Woot woot! I never do that! (I needed to since we were up so late)
- A yummy breakfast – cinnamon rolls, hashbrowns, and vegan bacon.
- Going to the island to see what’s up (that is where my family has homes).
- Seeing the hay bale pooper! That is what we call the equipment that bales hay. We first saw one on a river trip many years ago and still talk about it.
- Grilling out lunch – burgers and hot dogs.
- Painting rocks with Luca and Gina.
- A yummy dinner – stir fry. Ha, I keep mentioning the meals because they were all so good!
- Walking around by the river after dinner.
- Staying up too late (past 12:00) chatting and being goofy again. We were trying to learn to whistle with our fingers and that did NOT work well for any one, except a little, for Steven.
Tuesday
- Sleeping until almost 8:00!
- A walk with Gina.
- Going to Pike’s Peak to hike with Gina and Luca and hide rocks. Luca really wanted to be in a reel so we hid rocks and I made a reel of it.
- Taco Salads for lunch.
- Arriving home just before dinner time and getting settled in.
- The cats seeming to have gotten along while we were gone!
- Packages from Colorado and Japan arriving. Val sent me painted cat rocks to donate to Sip & Purr, and my friend Lauren from Japan sent me the Been There Starbucks Japan mug (and a bunch of other goodies!).
Lowlights
- Just being so tired from staying up so late! My body can’t do it!
A lovely weekend for you! I love friends that you can just stay up late, talking and being goofy. That’s what our book club trips were all about, and I miss them! We’re hoping to get away over Labor Day weekend!
Oh yes! It’s the best! Especially when you can just have fun hanging out and don’t need to have all these plans! I hope you all can get away then!
