A few highlights from the weekend! I was packed to go to Iowa this weekend but had to cancel, which completely changed my weekend (and meant I had time to do a lot of little things I enjoy, which was nice)! Hopefully I can go this weekend. I missed my nephews’ birthdays and seeing a family member who is recovering from surgery.
Thursday
- Taking the afternoon off. I was just so over it that day. While I was out running errands I decided to stop at the lake even though it was out of my way and it calmed me down and cheered me up.
- Steven getting takeout from Twisted Plants in Milwaukee while I packed. It was so sweet of him to order and drive up there and bring back a fun dinner for us to have the night before I was going to leave!
- Watching two episodes of Station Eleven. They put so many episodes out last week!
Friday
- A long morning nap. I have not done that in FOREVER! When I used to teach a Friday 5:00 am fitness class, on the days I had Friday off, I would come home and nap from around 9:00-11:00ish. I always felt so refreshed, even though it felt odd to get up and do a bunch of stuff and go back to bed. Anyway, it felt so nice to nap in the morning with the cats.
- Getting lots of reels filmed. Yay! I stopped filming as frequently because I was getting a new phone (I wanted to wait for better quality videos and not have to transfer a bunch of reels) and because my face was covered in zits. I still have a lot of zits, ha.
- A longer run and hot bath.
- Tacos for dinner and watching more Station Eleven.
- Making progress on some dog rocks. I’m not sure why I accept dog commissions. They are so intimidating and hard for me. I’m getting better at them, so that’s something. (But they take a LONG time and I should be charging more)
Saturday
- Taking lots of cute pics of the cats with my new phone. I wonder when I will get over being excited about how nice the cameras in it are.
- Making a fun art reel of me painting a Winnie the Pooh rock.
- Lifting and walking on the treadmill.
- Macaroni and cheese for lunch.
- Setting up Apple TV and watching Ted Lasso.
- Walmart having Halos. There are hands down my favorite fruit this time of year.
- Chilling a bit at Starbucks after getting groceries. I love to sit at this particular one and enjoy my chai and scroll Insta (of course).
- Chatting with Mom on the phone.
- Setting Ned up in the office. We’re starting cat introductions over, and bought more baby gates so he’s gated into the office and downstairs bathroom. (Technically, we are supposed to start with smell before sight (them seeing each other) but they know he’s here… I hope this helps. We’ll probably have these gates up for at least a month. It makes getting into the office and basement so fun (not).
- Chilling and watching a bad movie (Finch).
- Finishing book 2 in a series and having book 3 available on Libby (the Paradise series by Elin Hilderbrand).
Sunday
- Spending purposeful time playing with Ned.
- Doing virtual holiday gifts (well, the gifts were real, we just weren’t in person) with Steven’s dad and brother. We hadn’t seen them virtually in a year so it was nice to catch up. Andrew got me the most hilarious hooded sweatshirt that has a pouch for Ned. And Ned will actually sit in it!
- Going snowshoeing. Steven suggested this to me and I am so glad he did! It was fun and I only fell once.
Lowlights
- Canceling my Iowa trip. I really wanted to see my family. But like I said, I got to do a lot of little things I enjoy.
- A nail breaking. Gosh, this hasn’t happened to me in years but a nail broke really far back down my finger. Ouch. I think I ripped it when I was snowshoeing. I was able to glue it back together, but I am going to get an acrylic nail put on that one so I don’t pick at it once the glue wears down.
I loooove a morning nap. I feel like I sleep so hard at that time and then I wake up and there is so much DAY left.
I was so excited to get Portrait mode for iPhone! I think I even upgraded my phone around the time I adopted Eloise just so I could take really nice pictures of her. Ridiculous? Maybe.
I want that hooded sweatshirt! I wonder if Ellie would sit in it. Probably not. Wah. I’ll just use it with Lucy. She’s a snuggler!
That nail incident sounds so painful!
Yes! It’s the best time to nap, really! I am so grateful I could do that last Friday!
Not ridic at all. Portrait mode is so great for pets (and maybe kids? If they sit still). I love the pics you share of your girls.
Did I send you the link for it? Let me know if you want it.
OMG. It WAS. I glued it together and it stayed together, I can’t believe it! Then I went to the salon on Wednesday and they removed the polish and put dip on it to try to get it to last until my appointment in a week. LOL. I am so glad I could get it back together. It would have hurt so bad to have my nail exposed down that far, especially with all the Halos I am eating!
