A few highlights from the weekend!
Ha. I filled this out over the weekend but apparently that draft didn’t save. Fun fun!
Friday
- A beautiful hazy run in the morning.
- Having dangerous tree limbs (and trees) removed from our yard. It’s sad to cut down an entire tree but it was dead and going to fall on our house or Dragonstone if it ever fell!
- A nap after work with Khali and Starbuck.
- Getting ingredients to make tabbouleh and kibbeh with Steven. These are dishes his paternal grandma made often growing up and he’s been wanting to make them for a while for us, and to send some to his dad!
- Getting a message that a kid found the Pusheen rock I hid in Guttenberg last weekend and really liked it.
Saturday
- Cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
- Getting the rock ready for a giveaway I am doing with Two Cats today. Check it out! Emily (from Two Cats) and I have become good online friends, and since we are long distance friends (she lives in Australia) we thought it would be fun to do a long distance themed giveaway!
- $1 Shitterfly magnets. My $340 order went down to $40. Ha.
- Helping Steven plant some swamp oak acorns. He has become quite the tree enthusiast this year! We are planting some acorns to see if form seedlings.
- Eating some delicious vegan ranch dip with potato chips.
- Listening to San Andreas while I painted. I love disaster movies and this one is so redic!
- Steven making a lemon blueberry cake (that we couldn’t eat until Sunday because it had to cool, but it smelled so good!).
Sunday
- Getting a five mile run in and feeling good.
- Playing with my new ring light.
- A nap.
- Refilming a Reel I made in the morning but didn’t like, and liking the re-film much better.
- Eating the tabbouleh and kibbeh – yum!
- Finishing a book. I am excited to start something new!
Lowlights
- Going to the post office to mail a package to Australia and finding out they are not accepting incoming packages right now. That’s okay – it’s not urgent! Just want it to get there by October 18 (because it includes a 13 day Halloween Advent Calendar for cats! You aren’t even supposed to ship things with catnip overseas so we’ll see what happens there…)
- Burger King completely turning my burger into a hockey puck Friday night. Ha! The fries were good though! We were out late shopping and needed a quick dinner and went to one Burger King and their broilers were down. We asked them to cook the Impossible Burger in the microwave and they refused to – even though that’s how we always order them! The next was so nice and obviously over-cooked it in the microwave! Ha ha.
- How completely miserable it was outside. It’s still summer for a few weeks but I am over the high temps and dew points.
- My Sip & Purr paint class getting pushed to October. I actually thought this may happen because they’ve been so overwhelmed with their latest cat rescue mission to Lebanon, and it totally makes sense to push it, but I am so excited for it, so I felt said it got moved a few weeks. Wah wah, right, Kim?
- Only getting 3 hours of sleep Sunday night. Gah, my nap Sunday and being so excited about the giveaway today and finishing a book really messed me up!
I LOVE kibbeh! I have a recipe but have never attempted it myself. Our next door neighbor is Syrian and brought a huge plate of it over on Christmas Eve and I ate the entire thing myself (and told her to feel free to bring it anytime she has extra haha) π I think I’ve only ever had it with meat in it though – how did you guys make it vegan? Just omit the meat? And what’s in the sauce? Sorry, I’m nosy when it comes to food!
It’s pretty good, right? I hope your neighbor brings some more over! We used two kinds of vegan meat – Beyond and Impossible for it. So yes, omit the meat. The tzatziki sauce had vegan yogurt, cucumber, green onion, lemon juice, garlic powder, mint, and salt! LMK if you want me to email you any of the recipes! You are not being nosy <3
I hope she does too! She lives alone and often makes food for about 10 people, so we may as well help her out ha ha.
How was it with the fake meats? If you’d be willing to share the kibbeh recipe, I’d love that! Your tzatziki sounds just like the one I make so I’m glad I’m doing that right π
Oh yes, definitely! Some of these recipes just have to be made that big!
I thought it was good and Steven did too! I never ate it with animal meat though, so I don’t have that to base it on! I will send the recipe π
Thank you for sending π
I love a good nap with the cats! I call it “family nap time.” π They usually don’t sleep with me on the bed (Ellie will, but Lila does her own thing) but when I nap on the couch, they are usually nearby!
Look at those Shitterfly savings! GET IT GIRL.
omg, I can’t imagine going to the post office and finding out they aren’t accepting incoming packages! WHAT. That’s so crazy. I’m glad it wasn’t urgent!
I’m so glad the Chicago weather wasn’t miserable when we were there! It started getting a little toasty the longer we were there, so I think we left just in time… to arrive in FL where it was in the hundreds with 70%+ humidity. Blahhh.
We call it family time too! When every almost everyone is upstairs in bed we call for the missing cat and say “it’s family time!” Ha ha.
I know right? Blows my mind if anyone would pay full price there.
Ha. I was like… well okay then. The person I am sending it to is mailing something stateside she wants me to put in it, so it makes sense to wait!
You totally left just in time! Last week was NASTY! Then today it was in the high 50s for my morning run. Ahhh.
I don’t think I have ever had kibbeh. Tabbouleh, yum. I don’t tend to make my own, though. Lazy me. π
I’m also envious of your cinnamon rolls. But not so much envious of your overcooked burger. π
I definitely never had it since it was meat based! I really liked it! And omg, not lazy, it was a lot of work!
Ha. That burger. It was so bad! LOLOLOLOL!
