A few highlights from the weekend!
Ahh, I am so far behind on posts! This is what happens when I take a vacation – I opened my computer once in 7 days. A nice refresher but now I have a lot I want to share here!
This post recaps the first part of my trip, when I was in Cedar Falls and the day I arrived in Guttenberg.
Tuesday
- Getting a run in before I left.
- An easy drive to Iowa. I could not get into any of my podcasts for some reason, so I mostly blasted music!
- Playing pirates dress up with Grandma and William.
- Making a Reel with Dad and his ’39 Chevy Coupe (watch here!). This is when I learned I really need to be careful which buttons I push when I am saving a Reel. The save button is right below the share button and I accidentally shared it right away without meaning too. Ugh!
- Seeing all my family for birthday party #1. My snister is the best! She threw/hosted me two birthday parties! Thank you snis! This one was with my family in Cedar Falls – we had tacos and she made me a beautiful (and delicious!) cake! It was nice to see family and briefly catch up (it didn’t feel like enough time, of course, but I am grateful for what we had).
- Sharing my birthday cake with Leo. Ha, he sat on my lap and used a fork to eat cake and when I tried to eat some he would grab my fork so he could! So cute.
Wednesday
- Enjoying RAGBRAI! Again, I will post a full recap (er, someday), but we had a great ride.
- Buying a new RAGBRAI jersey at the end of the ride – I got too big for all mine so it’s nice to have one that fits again!
- Christina (my snis) ordering us all takeout after our ride and rehashing ride stories with everyone.
- Playing with my nephews.
- Relaxing and painting rocks with the family.
Thursday
- Having breakfast with Snis before I left. Ha, we had the hardest time finding a place with vegan food, but finally settled on Panera. It was nice to have some one-on-one time to chat!
- Catching up with Gina, Steve, & Luca when I got to Guttenberg.
- Seeing the awesome changes they made to their place.
- Gina loving the coffee cart rocks she commissioned from me.
- Going to the pond on the island.
- A yummy mac n cheese chili dinner.
- The weather cooling down and taking a long walk after dinner.
- Gina finding the vegan ice cream bars I’ve been looking for at Aldi for weeks! What the heck! How were they in Iowa first? (I found them here this week, phew)
Lowlights
- How damn hot it was. Tuesday-Thursday night was so dang steamy!
It’s a good thing to take a break from your laptop for a week (IMO) – I did the same when we took our little vacation! Sounds like it was a good time with family and friends – I love the dress up pirate pictures!
I agree – my mind and eyes need the break!
It really was! We had fun searching for treasure in our pirate costumes!
So much has happened since you last posted! RAGBRAI and a birthday!! I’m excited to hear more. π I’m glad you had such a lovely birthday – you deserve it!
I know! I had a busy week! And thank you, I really did π
